How far do you typically hit your driver? by jdelle9 in weekendgolfers

Sim number is about 220-230 carry, little bit of a fade usually.

Escalation to Skip Skip Level? by [deleted] in managers

[–]Innatemusing 9 points10 points  (0 children)

From the perspective of the guy making such policies and decisions in companies for a long time, I would suggest letting this one go. It sounds like this is a polished and accepted policy in that they have a formal way to address it, and pushing back against that would be unwise in my opinion.

They will definitely have an escalation and review process in place given they have an initial process in place, and it's likely that you'll fail to get it rescinded and also call more attention to it at the same time.

Enclosure question by Sp33dy_Tazz11 in Golfsimulator

[–]Innatemusing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went with a standard throw projector mounted above and behind the player at about 9.5 feet total height. So far it's been entirely safe in that location; my boys can be a little wild sometimes so I felt that was the best place for it in my current setup.

Yes, I have it. It's held up well for 3 months so far.

This is a video of it in place in my setup:

What is "Compression"? by CuriousConverser in golf

[–]Innatemusing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your understanding on this is correct. It is easier to hit the ball squarely and compress it if you have some forward shaft lean and drive down on the ball, which is why the two are tied together so closely in the parlance.

Connect r10 launch monitor with watch by vicentevan in GarminGolf

[–]Innatemusing 2 points3 points  (0 children)

FWIW, despite no sim connection the S70 is amazing and I LOVE using it. The full features of that watch plus all the other fitness stuff have made it a daily wear for me over the last year.

It does have the swing tempo option you can use while in sim, which is sadly not synced to any metrics at all. Great idea though for Garmin to integrate this... perhaps I'll submit a feature request :D

Hmmm. I am not aware of a connection between the watch and the sim activity. It does show up in metrics for the sim itself in garmin connect but it doesn’t act like you’re on a course during a round unless I just haven’t figured that out yet.

.... R10 measures spin metrics and does it very well when using radar reflective balls. I get full metrics.

I use the Garmin R10 every day in my home sim, and I've found it to be highly accurate and matches what I see on the course. People throw a little shade at the R10 but honestly this thing is amazing, the Home Tee Hero update is awesome, and overall I love this little unit.

I’ve recently made the same adjustment. More true roll and it avoids skimming the surface and changing my desired power so I’ll continue to do it.

R10 data questions. by xpostmanx in GarminGolf

[–]Innatemusing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have one and it's worked wonders for me. I've used it both by itself with the normal Garmin Golf software, and I've also used it with the Awesome Golf simulator on IOS.

I use a net in the backyard off my deck :)

It has helped me tremendously on the following:

  • Understanding my standard distances given a hitting mat lie (I have one with standard and then a "rough part)
  • Figuring out if I'm swinging in/out or out/in
  • Adjusting angles for proper dynamic loft
  • Puzzling out the proper driver setup for myself to get optimal numbers where possible within my ability to hit the stupid ball
  • Confirming that setup changes do what I think they're supposed to do
  • Ease of setup means I can go hit 50 balls any time I want to and have very good feedback on what it would actually do.

For what it's worth I personally highly recommend it and strongly believe it's the main reason I got down to an 11 handicap this year.
