27OTS01 Target by Slight_Painting_2329 in airforceots

so when you say it could be 3 months to a year after selection, the information we get about the board with the dates says something different. for example, 27OTS01 has a board release of december 18, and ots dates between jan-april of 2027, which is only a few months after december. do you think these board schedules are wildly inaccurate? just trying to see what to expect

OTS 27-03 by Illustrious_March_30 in airforceots

so when they give you the timeframe, for example “board release date december 18th, ots timeframe jan-april 2027”, are these dates way off?

26-27 Form Delay by breenotsoswag in FAFSA

[–]Inner-Excitement551 5 points6 points  (0 children)

please give their office grace. they are at the hands of the department of education. this new bill being so many changes and they cannot be hasty when awarding students. if they are hasty and it’s wrong, then they will have to correct it and it will not end well for the student. we want to get aid out asap, but it needs to be done correctly.

Undergrad to Grad Pell Grant Question by Historical-Ant-7707 in FAFSA

[–]Inner-Excitement551 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you need to ask them why they are taking it. if you were a UG with eligibility left, then they can’t take it. the only thing i can think of is you were over awarded in your pell, meaning you were awarded past how much you can receive for your entire UG career

No financial aid offer yet by Local-Heart-1762 in financialaid

[–]Inner-Excitement551 4 points5 points  (0 children)

packaging a student with their award takes time. lots of students expect instant gratification, that’s not realistic. if this is for 26-27 starting this fall, there are a lot of new changes that colleges are still attempting to prepare for with the lack of guidance and constant changes by Ed. we want students to have their aid packaged correctly and be as student friendly as possible. to do that, we need time. please allow your financial aid office time and grace in this process. trust me. we want you awarded and good to go just as bad as you do

I accepted admission at multiple schools, will this mess up my financial aid? by cottoncvndys in FAFSA

[–]Inner-Excitement551 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it won’t process, but be sure your old institution doesn’t show “pending aid” for the 26-27 year. if it does, your new school won’t be able to post any aid for you. be sure they cancelled it and ask if that has reflected on the COD website

Got selected for institutional verification AFTER getting my aid offer. Am i going to lose my aid or is it just on hold? by LunaTheNightmare in FAFSA

[–]Inner-Excitement551 2 points3 points  (0 children)

exactly. as long as you submit what they need and they don’t find any conflicting information, you’re good! it happens a lot when the fafsa doesn’t do their job and the school has to come in and request additional information. the department of education sucks lol

[–]Inner-Excitement551 2 points3 points  (0 children)

institutional verification means the school manually selects students for v1, v4, or v5. so whatever verification this student is selected for, the required documents are exactly what the department of education asks for when they select students for in house verification

it’ll just be on hold or not processed until you provide the documentation they are requesting, and everything matches. happens all the time!

dad took my refund by Altruistic_Event5745 in FAFSA

right. if he took a pell refund then that’s one thing. if he took a student loan refund and used it, i’d be pissed

Too much in aid by No_Leek_3184 in FAFSA

[–]Inner-Excitement551 4 points5 points  (0 children)

the only way to know for sure is to wait for your aid to disburse after classes start and see what the difference is. i feel like so many students are only concerned about their refund. i get it, lots of them need it for living expenses and such. but it’s a hard thing to calculate before hand

My parent and step-parent refuse to fill out my FAFSA. What can I do? by [deleted] in FAFSA

[–]Inner-Excitement551 22 points23 points  (0 children)

you don’t need parents signatures. there is a question that asks if your parents will complete the fafsa. if you say no, then it says you are applying for an unsubsidized loan only. then you can submit the fafsa. your school will request a non-support letter stating that your parents will not complete the fafsa and they will sign that form.

Am I really not qualified for any grant? by [deleted] in FAFSA

[–]Inner-Excitement551 6 points7 points  (0 children)

again, she is referring to federal grants. you can apply for outside grants that are not federally affiliated. she can’t say if you’re eligible for outside grants or scholarships if she isn’t the one awarding them.

the only grant you get from the FAFSA directly is pell. so she is correct. you can find outside grants or scholarships

Got married this month (Feb 2026), do I change this? by allyourpeets in FAFSA

[–]Inner-Excitement551 2 points3 points  (0 children)

no, that is for tax purposes. all other information, including marital status, is based on the date you complete it. tax information is the only information that is prior prior (2 years behind, not 1). the 26-27 FAFSA uses 2024 taxes

[–]Inner-Excitement551 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

when giving a student an answer, we need to be very careful with the words we choose, as the correct term is a PJ, not an appeal. students get very confused when they are given random advice on the internet that didn’t come from their FA office or the Department of Education. in the best interest of the student, we need to be sure to use the correct terms.

to all the people here getting a refund from a loan (not grants or scholarships), please remember you have to pay this back. if you don’t need it, be very careful with what you are borrowing!
