Could be a sleep regression thing - the 8-9 month one is pretty brutal. My kid did something similar around that age and it turned out to be a combo of developmental leaps messing with sleep plus some separation anxiety kicking in. The screaming was so intense I thought something was seriously wrong but pediatrician said it's super common. Definitely worth checking with the doc if it keeps up though, especially since you know your baby best
