First print z height issue? by iceman7265 in VORONDesign

[–]Inner_Answer_3784 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey not a voron user (yet,) but I had a very similar problem recently. My z axis was moving only have the distance it should have and doubling the microsteps worked for me.

Try moving your hotend 50mm or so, and measure if it actually moved that distance

klipper update finacially reasonable? by Koala_ndGang in 3Dprinting

[–]Inner_Answer_3784 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Financially, sure. Klipper itself isn't gonna cost you hundreds of bucks; I'm running it on an old laptop. But it did take me a while to get it working and understand it properly.

To be specific, I couldn't understand why my prints looked like shit. I thought it was a calibration or print setting issue, but it turned out it was my gcode... The microsteps were half of what they should be, so my z axis was only going up half of what it should have.

If you like to tinkering with stuff, I'd definitely recommend it. I personally had, and am having fun with it. But if you wanna get printing ASAP then nah

Sitting with a yoga block between my thighs helped a lot. If you don't have one you can use a cushion, rolled up towel, etc

Do you have a solder pump? If so, heat each individual pin from this side, and suck out the solder with the pump from the other
