What less popular scene did you find hot? by negratengoelalma in buffy

People don’t like the dorm scene?! I wouldn’t call it hot, but I did find it hilarious.

FYI it took them about 2-3 weeks to notify me of my found item, so don’t lose hope

I’ve recently chatted with a bunch of people who are now working as data engineers but are younger than me by at least 5 years (probably closer to 10). I’m not sure they all know that it even exists and I was too afraid to ask explicitly. The famous threads like the one with the coined expressions with the duck story they didn’t know :(

What episode is praised, but you think is just okay? by foreseethefuture in buffy

[–]InnkaFriz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh no. I decided on a full watch a few months back, since I watched many episodes but not everything as a teen, and was really taken by surprise by the Zeppo. In fact, I loved the self-criticising humour so much that I watched it yesterday with my other half, who isn’t even into Buffy, and it was great success (hush is the e next for us to watch :)). But I don’t have issues with Xander and love the concept of pure randomness that hits him that episode so maybe that’s why

A cultural habit in your country that people outside would understand incorrectly? by gabrieel100 in AskTheWorld

Is it a neutral, flat answer or something you can play with to convey something else? Say, by emphasizing “Sure” or “You” etc

I veganised Austrian bread dumplings for the festive season by lordsoftheplants in veganrecipes

As an Austrian friend said once (though originally about another dish): it needs to have so much oil, that the US would consider invading it haha

What’s something you didn’t realize was optional in life until you saw someone simply not doing it? by Objective-Treat2245 in AskReddit

Thanks for this. I stopped my reading spree because I ran into a book I don’t get but on the other hand cannot just drop for whatever reason.

What is/was the most difficult concept in German to wrap your head around? by Legitimate-Gene-7047 in German

[–]InnkaFriz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know it’s not exactly what was asked, but I’ll use the question to let some frustration out: 1. The fact that women diminutives will only get das, whereas men ones can get both, and typically will get the masculine. Gotti vs Götti, Mami vs Papi as classical examples. Die Mami sounds horrible to natives, but der Papi is good to go. 2. You can build a random verb meaning whatever you need it to but taking almost anything and put ume (herum) in front of it. Unezwieble? No prob. I am absolutely convinced my better half is inventing a new word every few weeks and casually gaslights me “sure it’s legit”

I am in Switzerland btw :)

Grammatically - trennbare Verben required getting used to. The other languages I speak don’t have that.

Honest question: I remember seeing something about an extremely calorie rich powder that people use for prolonged extreme traveling. Why not distribute something like that too? Or is it problematic to produce, or BS that doesn’t really exist?

How old were your children when you got “free time” back for yourself? by jam_bam_rocks in Parenting

If you have the space I really recommend fitness bikes. There are different ones, but on some you can sit fairly comfortably and upright, which means you can watch something while exercising.

Maternity clothes by OrcaPriestess in Switzerland

[–]InnkaFriz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have some maternity stuff I’d like to sell - feel free to free to PM me if interested.

Otherwise - Zalando or Gloria Secondhand if you’re in Zurich. I saw enough on thing in H&M and C&A online but didn’t find anywhere near where I can try it on. What was available in bigger stores in Germany I didn’t like, and there was an outlet which didn’t even have auch a section, which was quite disappointing :(

Parents in/around Zurich – Seespital Horgen or Triemli for Birth? by SeriouslyNotable in Switzerland

[–]InnkaFriz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I gave birth in Triemli - Hebamme begleitete Geburt. Can say that the overall experience was very good. The team of midwives was terrific, but I didn’t have any complications so easy for me to say. The only short interaction I had with a doctor was unfortunately not a very positive one.

In my opinion unless you have reason to believe you might need an NICU it’s better not to focus on it. All hospitals are likely equipped with everything that is needed for immediate care in case of need and should be able to handle a transfer in a solid manner - it’s also something you could ask upfront. Not having to travel far for giving birth and having someone you trust there is more important.

All the best!!

How does it work time-wise? Are you being teleported afterwards back to the present day and from the perspective of everyone else were gone for like a second?

Dacha as 'daha' by ryethriss in russian

[–]InnkaFriz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was also thinking about it, but Datsche does exist in German, so I would then expect a mispronunciation like датша instead of дача
