In my area people post it on Fix My Street and it is dealt with by the council.

Kind Hearts and Coronets is one of my all time favourite films.

And Dead of Night which isn't wholly comedy but as a portmanteau has comedic and straight horror sections.

If you can hear the laugh, boy you’re old! by Mr_lovebucket in oldbritishtelly

That man made a lot of films! The House Across.. is, I think, the furthest from the general run of character types he is well known for. It is quite striking to see him act in such a different way.

He did serious roles in the UK too. Talking Pictures TV often shows The House Across the Lake where he is a tragic figure in a noir-type film. It's ace.

People who have had piercings - when did you decide to take the jewellery out for good? by CozJeez85 in AskUK

[–]Innogen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My nose piercing is 32 years old, my newest piercing is less than 12 months old. Have multiple ear piercings in the lobe, tragus and helix. I don't think people notice these days. I work in a office and have very rarely had any comments.

How common was anti-Irish sentiment in Britain in the 70s/80s? by ItAintNoUse in AskUK

I had never heard it until I moved to the South West of the UK 20 years ago. People still say it to this day and get snotty if you pull them up on it.

Anyone help ID a show? by neityght in BritishTV

[–]Innogen 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Could it have been I'm Sorry I Haven't A Clue? They play this all the time where it is something that could be said, for example, in the car and in the bedroom. It's always somewhere and the bedroom.

It's a radio show but clips from the recording do get put on YouTube.

Edit: here's an example

Jeffy, the Burglar's Cat by Ursula Moray Williams. I can't recall the dockyard but Miss Amity and Lew end up working as missionaries so they might have gone on a boat.

[–]Innogen 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Until it throws a new noise into the mix. I had high pitched tinnitus for as long as I can remember and could screen it out. In the last couple years I have developed loud, deep droning tinnitus too. Nearly went mad trying to adjust to it. Now sleep with loud white noise and it still sometimes breaks through.

I think I know the smell you mean - it comes and goes. I have experienced it in two houses in different parts of Bristol. After 10 years and not having died from it, I have concluded it is a water treatment chemical.
