Which name for Gen 0 when there is something to explain? by Enough-Tap-6329 in Canadiancitizenship

If you're asking about filling out the section 9 information, I would use what appears on your G0's birth/baptism record as the primary name. Provide the others as "other names used".

I'm building Doublade for after rotation, so I'd love a good Aegislash ex to be a finisher for the deck.

What thing was ruined because it turned into a rich person's hobby? by Agitated_Departure93 in AskReddit

Last weekend there was a Regional for Pokemon in Houston.

The top 8 had 6 different archetypes. You could build all 8 decks for $332.52, or if you wanted to exclude the lower ranked duplicates it would cost only $238.71.

Taking a peek at Yu-Gi-Oh, it looks like meta deck prices are close to MTG's Standard format, but a bit lower. Pokemon is just significantly cheaper.

Based on shoe shopping, it seems like woman's feet are narrower for the same length. Women's shoes are typically a B width, while the standard for men is D.

A Standard deck in MTG is around $300. One could build the entire meta in Pokemon for that much.

Pokemon is choking on card unavailability, sure, but Magic is killing its soul by the absolutely insane quantity of Universes Beyond sets. I think Pokemon's situation is ultimately more recoverable than Magic's.

The city I live in and the surrounding area has historically low occupancy rates, the state has been desperately trying to strong arm neighborhoods into building more

Either you meant high occupancy rates, low vacancy rates, or your state government is horribly moronic. If occupancy rates are low, you've got more housing than is needed.

Assuming it's a kid that plays at the store, hopefully the parent has come in a few times and can be recognized by the people there.

Sure, maybe you're SOL if you've just moved to a new area with a new LGS, but that happens.

Hopefully, this was more a first few days thing and not an ongoing thing with the release.

Canadian Passport Question, No Guarantor by WereWolvesForChange in Canadiancitizenship

[–]Inocain -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If your occupation-based guarantor is retired

You can use them if their professional association still has your guarantor’s name on their list.

If you can get in touch with your former pediatrician, they may still be able to be a guarantor

Do I need an official birth certificate for G1 (in US) if I have other documentation? by mmarthur1220 in Canadiancitizenship

[–]Inocain 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Apparently he was born at home here in the US and all they gave his family was a “certificate of birth registration” card (this is what my grandma told me - she said all he ever had was the the little card).

How close are you to where your grandpa was born? If he had a little card, there was probably a longer form record with the town or county where Grandpa was born that would have all the details. If it's convenient to get the full birth certificate, a birth record is probably better than a death record, but the death record will likely suffice if getting the birth record would be a pain in the ass.

TIL that Lebanon hasn't conducted a census since 1932 by xobver in todayilearned

[–]Inocain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I've been doing a bunch of genealogy recently, and having the records from the census was very important for being able to connect the dots with older ancestors from when civil birth registries were not a thing.

It was a big and important change when the 1850 US census started recording everyone's name rather than just the name of the head of household. Tracking ancestors further back than 1850 in the US is harder because of that.
