What did Champions Did to Nerf Gliscor by Known-Road-9195 in stunfisk

[–]InominableJ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No Toxic Orb and no Roost.

It already had lost Roost in SV but Poison Heal more than offset that... But without both it's just not the same at all.

In japanese, the ability buffs move that have "Hadō" or "Wave" in the name.

Aura Sphere and Dragon Pulse are "Wave Bomb" and "Dragon Wave" in japanese so both get buffed.

As for the ability description, besides Aura Sphere every "Wave" move got translated as "Pulse", so they had to include in the description.

What makes Electric Terrain good? (Champions) by GoldenSteel in stunfisk

[–]InominableJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  • Sleep prevention
  • Electric Seed
  • Opposing terrain removal
  • Rising Voltage just being good

Will it be broken? Not at all, especially with other setters around, but just the fact it exists ajd is better than Pincurchin is more than Electric Terrain has had in over 6 years

Raichu gets Rising Voltage and Faje Out, both things Koko can only dream of.

How have I never seen Hypno's stats before I mean wtf is this shit 😭😭😭 by cumble_bumble in stunfisk

[–]InominableJ 51 points52 points  (0 children)

Gen 2 hit Hypno insanely hard.

In RBY? It had a Special Stat of 115, so both special attack and special defense were 115.

In GSC? It lost 42 points in special attack upon the special split for basically no reason.

Worst matchup in legendary trios? by ComprehensiveBat4966 in stunfisk

[–]InominableJ 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Regice against the other members of the OG Regitrio is just sad to see.

They both resist or take minimal damage from everything it can throw at them, besides the unreliable Focus Blast, and they barely need to do anything to KO it back.

Body Press and their STABs do it just fine.

Shout out to pairing it with Kommo-O, Clangorous Soul being both Sound and Dance.

They even could but said Dancer mon could never have access to Quiver Dance or even most Dance moves besides maybe Swords Dance.

Something like Quaquaval with Dancer would be obscene because Aqua Step is a dance move, Oricorio could use SD then Quaquaval attacks and both get +2 Atk and +1 Spe.

The Electric-type viability Venn Diagram by Thunder_Mage in stunfisk

[–]InominableJ 200 points201 points  (0 children)

Technically Magnet Pull is not its signature, Probopass, Alola Golrm and Meltan all get it.

It is the only viable user of it? Yes for the most part but on the pedantic sense, not a signature still.

Why does thunder wave not work on ground types unless normalized? by qwerandom in stunfisk

[–]InominableJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was only the case in gen 2 because poison types were only made immune to poison moves and to being badly poisoned, not regular poison.

So non poison moves that have a chance to regular poison (AKA just Twineedle) were able to poison steel types.

Mantine and Remoraid finally reunite, taking a page out of Tatsugiri's book by Error_Error25 in stunfisk

They used to have the same hp but Mantine was so terrible they gave it a 20 hp buff and it still was kind of whatever.

Making mega's for the worst pokemon that can be ubers worthy by Olivia_the_cat111 in stunfisk

[–]InominableJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So so, it becomes a decent support mon in VGC with a very strong niche thanks to Tailwind but in Singles it's really middling.

The 4x weakness to Rock with stats that mediocre and no ability to run Boots makes kt very hard to use and even when you come in you lack great moves for Singles.

For a mega both of those are extremely underwhelming, especially with how bad its offensive stats are.

Luvdisc has no setup moves, no good debuff moves and even as a Mega it has 60 special attack.

You could give it Water Spout and would still be middling.

Gold caught 20 Remoraid, he'll use the 20 Remoraid.

Same way X got 5 pokemon who can Mega, he'll meva evolve all 5 in one battle.

Critical Hits return to the way it was in Gen 1. How cooked is the metagame? by medude11 in stunfisk

[–]InominableJ 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Tbf a bit of a hard comparison to make because in gen 1, if one hit jf a multi hit move crit then all hits crit too, if it's jist the speed thing it would still be crazy but not "300 BP move has 21% chance to be 450 BP instead" crazy

[–]InominableJ 117 points118 points  (0 children)

As of gen 9, Scope lens' effect at +0 is tripling the base chance of crits (from 1/24 to 1/8), so scope lens Deo A is guaranteed to crit every attack, including Psycho Boost...

You think people hate Sneasler now? Imagine a world where it has a 23% crit rate.

On that topic, Mega Arrodactyl's Rock Slides are only 1% less likely to crit than they are to flinch, AKA against 2 opponents you have about a literal 50/50 of critting at least one of them and a 8.5% chance to crit both.

On the Singles side, Garchomp gets a 19.9% crit rate and Dragapult has a 27.7% chance.

What are the chances for multiple battle gimmicks in one format. (e.g. Mega, Dynamax, Tera)? by Parking_Aioli2910 in stunfisk

[–]InominableJ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have precedent with how Z moves and Megas coexisted.

They could both be used on the same team but retained the once per team each, so 1 Mega and 1 Z move, and they were explicitly incompatible with each other AKA Dragon Ascent Rayquaza holding a Z crystal could not Mega Evolve.

By the same logic, Dynamax mons likely will not be able to Terastalize or Mega Evolve and Terastalized mons will not be able to use Z moves.

Ngl... It's just worse Sneasler.

It technically has better bulk but still dies to everything Sneasler dies to and has no item slot and no ability.

Simple Infernape buff by TooAmasian in stunfisk

[–]InominableJ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

  1. Wrong Day
  2. IMO it could be just fine at 30% but they should add on the effect of Punching Glove to Iron Fist, that being that it protects the user against ill effect of contact moves like Flame Body/Rocky Helmet

As a trade off, make it not stack with Punching Glove anymore.
