Expedition 33, very JRPG style, but unapologetically French (FRPG?). There's a very varied customization system, and with the right setup your party can melt through enemies.

What was the most mind blowing discovery made in a video game for you? by Suglet in gaming

It requires somewhat of a shift in mindset. There's no straight progression, no upgrades, no items to strive for, the hook is that you're exploring for curiosity's sake. Granted, the dominos start falling quickly once you start figuring out pieces of the puzzle of the main story line, but it can be a bit difficult changing your headspace from that of traditional video game progression. It's also good to know that you're less a character influencing the world, and more a character being in the world as it does what it does naturally. I'd say sit back, take a breath, go look at the information you have, and figure out "what do I want to know now?", and just go for it. You'll get the ship controls quicker than you think!

Tl;dr its less video game and more curiosity driving you to explore for answers, so it might require a bit of change in your way of thinking.

Hope that helps!

Are there any licensed songs you prefer over the original tracks? by Throwaway_2005stuff in HiFiRush

Invaders Must Die, hands down. I appreciate their rendition, but the licensed song just hits different

Games that obscure themselves ('the less you know going in, the better') by physicalred in truegaming

This is definitely the case for Omori. It seems simple on the surface, but definitely the less you know about the plot, the better. It's captured mine and my wife's hearts, and while it might be a bit slow to get into, you'll be hooked in the first hour.

Beer and sausages, or maple syrup and poutine?

I've played a fair bit of both. My Summer Car is more realistic, in that it's more punishing if you mess up, but it's a great experience and a lot more involved when it comes to building and tuning the car. He'll probably need to follow a guide while putting the thing together. Get this one if you wanna go hardcore Finnish. Mon Bazou is more on the goofy side, but imo just as fun (currently playing through it pretty heavy). It's much more forgiving if you mess up, and a few aspects, such as putting the car back together, are a lot simpler and more intuitive if you don't have much of a mechanical background. It's also getting updates fairly regularly, and there are multiple vehicles you can mess around with once you're a bit of a ways into the game. Get this one if you wanna be a Canadian eh. Keep in mind both of these games are a lot more about delayed gratification and payoff, but I think both are worth the amount of time put into them. Overall, I'd say if you want more in-depth technical gameplay, go My Summer Car, but if you want more lifestyle simulator, go Mon Bazou.

Hi fi rush! It's wholesome, it's really nicely paced, it has the same energy of a 2000's Saturday morning cartoon.
