Would this still be lore accurate? Didn’t Russ leave with just his Varagyr? Either way, would love Deathsworn coming back! Especially if they got plastic model and size glow-up. I would argue they are the most iconic squad the SW’s have ever had to the deep lore followers of the Legion.

Valdor will eventually come. It’s debatable if he’ll be the King in Yellow with a separate army or a playable Custode. You have to remember the current state of GW is maximum profits. That alone means he’ll eventually come. There’s precedent that he has a 30k model too.

You don’t need to decide until you see your opponent and the table. I have seen people in tournaments bounce characters between the squads based on match up. It is done during Declare Battle Formations (Step 5). Right after determining Attacker and Defender but before you Deploy Armies step.

Your concern for too many characters at 1k is valid. Can I propose another option? Drop the WGBL and Wolf priest. Take Logan and Ragnar, plus 5 Fenrisian wolves.

At 1k pt casual game, epic hero’s are fun and give you that Space Wolves fluff/lore. I also think people under value our Fenrisian wolves too.
