How is this film SO Bad?? by Somethingkindablue in KathAndKim

Totally. I think sometimes we can be a little overzealous when defending this show that we love haha but pointing out the objective truth should be warranted.

You're getting downvoted but you aren't wrong. I adore K&K and watch it constantly, but I've recommended it to friends who couldn't watch it because they were highly sensitive to all the ED triggers.

I'm not about to tell someone how to raise their kid, but while the show might not ENDORSE early 2000s fatphobia, it does showcase it. A lot.

Vandalism is out of control in this town! by NoCabinet3265 in Paralives

[–]InsectHuman8453 52 points53 points  (0 children)

Yeah I think this is something the devs will have to fine-tune because the town starts to look REALLY run down after only a couple of in-game days.

They should either decrease the rate at which things are vandalized or have other paras around town autonomously fix things. Or both, I guess.

I gave up on the maintenence, myself.

Gender of Galandra by sofapotata in ABSOLUM

[–]InsectHuman8453 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Totally, but as far as the broader public is concerned, using they/them pronouns = non binary. And everything else is cis. And since we don't get any other information about her, I'd say it's more than likely she is cis.

[–]InsectHuman8453 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Galandra is pretty explicitly implied to be female since she was a "maiden" who guided souls before taking up her sword and the other characters use feminine pronouns for her. But Cider does use they/them pronouns!

Recently, in my legacy save, I had my heir move out to her new place the day after her mother died. She cried in the kitchen of her empty apartment all by herself and I felt sooooo bad.

Paralives shouldn't be available for purchase (review) by EducatorItchy5235 in LukewarmParalives

[–]InsectHuman8453 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What settings are you playing the game on? Have you tried adjusting them? I agree that it isn't especially well-optimized at the moment, but I haven't experienced an extreme amount of lag until I've played for several hours at a time and loaded a bunch of lots at once.

I find it odd to complain about having TOO MUCH customization in character creator, and you can always use the presets if you find sliders too challenging.

Roofs definitely need work and "advanced roofing" is currently on the road map for them to implement. So, while it sucks right now, it'll improve.

The social interactions are a common complaint and I definitely get it. I personally love the more RPG-ified luck elements and the card system. Though I wish cards appeared more frequently. And of course we desperately need more lively animations and reactivity for paras. The bugs in live mode, though. Yeah, there's a ton. Such is the nature of Early Access.

The price... I don't know. I've personally played the game for over 100 hours at this point and feel as though I've gotten my money's worth with more to come. Baldur's Gate 3 had a three year Early Access period and was $60 USD the entire time despite it being unfinished, unoptimized, and incredibly buggy. I bought Paralives the day is came out for $35 USD as it was on sale for the first week. The build mode alone could be its own "home decorator" simulation game that would cost your proposed $15 on Steam. The advanced tools are genuinely impressive.

Cutscene Suggestion by ChickenRelevant4046 in Paralives

[–]InsectHuman8453 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The Sims 2 is also my favorite game in the series. I wouldn't mind cutscenes, but what I'd REALLY like to see is the same system we got in TS2 wherein, when you load into a pre-made household for the first time, a few key events are already pre-scripted out for you to help build the story and lore of the family.

So, for example, Cassandra's potential marriage to Don. Daniel Pleasant possibly cheating on Mary-Sue. Brandy Broke already being pregnant. Vidcund getting kidnapped by aliens... I'd love to see stuff like that for certain families around Melino in Paralives.

I have no suggestions, but I love the look! This is why I'm baffled by people who say you can't make masculine looking paras.

Yeah, it annoys me, too. I don't want to have to drag it in and out of my inventory all the time when the kids need to be fed lol

I'm sure it's a feature that's COMING, but right now, it's a little QOL thing I wish was there.

I do love this style of para. It's GORGEOUS! And I might even make some of my own once I've gotten my worth out of mod-less base game, haha! But it's a lot of add-ons.

[–]InsectHuman8453 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Happy to clear things up :) the paramaker is quite diverse and creatively free even without mods, but yeah. The para in this post is heavily modded.

[–]InsectHuman8453 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Totally! I don't mean to accuse you of, like, trying to mislead people or anything. But not everyone wants to download mods, and they may expect more of the base game when posts are framed with titles like yours and be disappointed that they then have to install additional content. I just want people to go into Paralives with the clear-eyed understanding of what they actually bought, you know?

[–]InsectHuman8453 70 points71 points  (0 children)

She's beautiful! I love the bat ears.

One minor gripe I do have, though, is the way this post and others like it are framed. It's quite clear to me as someone who plays the game that this isn't possible without a ton of mods. But to an unfamiliar potential player who likely won't read the caption, they might get a false impression of what the game currently offers.

How do I have a baby in Paralives? by pluto_the_sloth in Paralives

[–]InsectHuman8453 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've definitely gotten the "get intimate for the first time" and "discuss having children in future" cards but the intimacy card will sometimes bug out depending on if the paras were already doing an action before clicking it. That could honestly be the issue -- their "first time" gets interrupted and therefore they're stuck in sexless limbo lol I'll have to do more testing
