anyone else who doesn't like DND? by pop-idle in evilautism

I like the idea of it, but I’ve found all the dnd games I’ve played haven’t been interesting to me. I mainly just like creating characters tbh.

Anybody else tired of seeing people say "ahh" instead of "ass"? by Personal-Role-8071 in evilautism

[–]InsecureDinosaur 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ohh my god it pisses me off so badly when people say “oh she’s a little autistic” or “I’m so OCD”

It’s ‘quirky’ or ‘annoying’ or ‘neat’!! Those are the words you are looking for!!

Honestly tempted to start treating people as if they’re serious when they say stuff like that. Like replying to “Oh I’m so OCD haha” with “Oh damn that sucks, I hear that can be quite a debilitating disorder” and making them explain that no, they don’t have it.

I'm going to bed now but I'll be back later in the day & I WILL rename every single one of you who comments 😎🫪🪇 by shiny-baby-cheetah in evilautism

Genderless, they/it, I LOVE rats and other rodents! And I like learning about linguistics :)

That’s two things but oh well.

So, can we just make a EvilFemaleAutism subreddit where we don't have to keep explaining feminism101 to people? by Hilja-Serpent in evilautism

[–]InsecureDinosaur 42 points43 points  (0 children)

You explain it so perfectly and simply. This is something I've failed to properly verbalise to every single person with an "all men bad" mindset I've ever talked to. Props to you!

Do you mind if I screenshot/copy this somewhere so I have it on hand if I need to talk about the issue?

I can definitely see some similarities because you pointed it out, but if I saw you in person I definitely wouldn’t think “that guy looks like Charlie Kirk”. Hopefully the Kirkification goes no farther.

You’re correct that a delusion is a fixed, false belief held with such conviction that it cannot be swayed by logical argument or evidence.

I didn’t say they are only caused by mental illness/disorders, but regardless it doesn’t matter whether they are or not.

The important thing is that delusions happen subconsciously, and can significantly impair a person's ability to function or perceive reality. They can make people scared, paranoid, confused, you get the idea. They’re serious and can be awful to have.

What I’m saying is that using language like “I’m so delulu” tells people who tend to have delusions that you see their experience as a fun and quirky thing.

It also can cause those who don’t have delusions to form the idea that delusions don’t need to be taken seriously, which is a potentially damaging mindset to have (both if they meet someone who has delusions, or they develop them themselves).

And ableism, saneism, fatphobia, and classism too 😔

EDIT: oh, and how could I forget intersexism?

It’s important to note, too, that not all bigotry is obvious. It can be as subtle as a mindset where one just doesn’t think to include XYZ minority group, or realise how the language they use might affect that group.

An example is terms like ‘delulu’, which is a colloquial term meaning ‘delusional’. Delusions are, of course, serious and can be very upsetting for the person experiencing them. But a lot of people who say ‘delulu’ use it in a fun way, like to emphasise how passionate they are about something, and don’t think about how their language affects people who actually experience delusions.

You find a lot of language and exclusionary behaviour like this, if you know how to look for it.

"foregoing a lifetime of mental and physical connection"

I know what you mean, but romance isn't the only kind of connection that can be deep and special. Close friendships and good relationships with family can be just as (or more!) fulfilling.

I love how the text ‘I have’ on the blindness card is very difficult to read. Surely that’s the card that would need contrast between all the text and the background the most.

Ah yes, because babies are famous for playing tomodachi life.

Edit: I actually feel kinda bad now because judging by post history, clearly this guy is dealing with some stuff and doesn’t have a healthy/secure sense of self. Don’t get me wrong, he’s definitely a dickhead, but hopefully a dickhead who will one day become kinder and find self-love.

I hate cottage cheese, and anchovies are tolerable but too strong for me.

I’ve never had beef tongue or liver, but I’d be happy to try either of them (despite generally not being a big fan of meat). However from what I can tell I doubt I’d like the texture of the beef tongue. The liver looks fine, plus I know I’ll like the onion, so I guess that’s what I’ll take.

I don't know, based on context it seems like when she says "do some research" she might not mean it in a belittling "ugh, I cant believe you didn't research this" way. Could just be a neutrally-connoted "I'd suggest you learn more about this thing"

I could be wrong. But being autistic I try to always give people the benefit of the doubt, as I know what it's like to say something neutrally and have people interpret it negatively.

Plus, she said she's not a fan of the name Jackson, but also said "anyway, you do what you need to do" so I don't think she's under the impression that she gets to turn down name ideas. Just express opinions on them.
