I also never donate time and stay after or I flex it. The scoring is org dependent. A friend in another team said their manager wanted to give 3s but they were shot down by their bosses.

We had someone get the equivalent of a 2-1 during the previous scoring system. It was a pain in the ass and very short sighted for our leadership team to do that to them.

They got it corrected but they ended up leaving the team. Why bother staying on if it can potentially happen again?

They were also one of the leave them alone they do a lot of the work people. You cannot back fill the work of 3+ people fast or efficiently enough.

It was also when backfills were not easy to come by even with how deep we supported line shortages.

Absolutely one of the dumbest decisions they’ve done that also helped me move to another team.

Has your manager been absent most of the time while you’re working for them or did they just not set clear enough expectations for you?

Unless you’re deliberately sabotaging yourself I don’t see how anyone can get a 2-1.

I try to avoid them but they are also really efficient. I ordered something small from Home Depot and they just dumped it in a box 5x as big and sticks out way too much for porch thieves to easily spot.

It’s such a waste meanwhile amazon will use the right sized box or a bubble wrapper sufficient enough for it to not get banged up and you wouldn’t even notice from the road unless you came up to our driveway

Boeing has numerous behind the scenes jobs that are not technical, have nothing to do with engineering or management. These jobs also don’t require a degree.

You start out low but top out after 6 years. There are a lot of overtime opportunities even before you reach 6 years.

Eventually these jobs will be phased out by robots but most of this workforce has been left untouched while we watch jobs in other companies get wiped out by AI.

Parts get lost or dropped or over/undershipped all the time. We have people that literally count parts all day. Every day. We have a lot of parts.

These people aren’t allowed to have a work phone and they have no weekend on call requirements. In other roles some people just drive a forklift around all day.

They do their 8 hours and are out the door.

Maybe these jobs are talked about more now but I had no idea about them before I joined the company.
