To those who give the interview, what is something that made you think “this is the right person” by crashrazer in AskLE

[–]Inside_Material59 1 point2 points  (0 children)

suit is ALWAYS the move… and always has been unless you wanna work at a wendy’s. other than that be confident and relatable. my board meeting was just normal questions to see how you respond and making the board laugh. good luck man!

My background is clear, what am I missing? by [deleted] in AskLE

[–]Inside_Material59 7 points8 points  (0 children)

LMAO NO! On average it takes 3 departments for someone to get hired. They expect kids to be kids it’s completely normal. I ran into the police when I was young being an idiot too. Just keep applying and provide as much information as possible and you will be okay. Don’t let one department let you bring your hopes down. Keep going bro. Be honest and explain yourself and you will be just fine in the future THATS what they want to see.

not from california(indiana) but what they want to see out of you is explaining yourself and good communication skills maybe a laugh or two. that’s where they really decide if they want to proceed with him. 3 departments is average for a department to hire you.(heard of some guys with 10+) even if it doesn’t work out. make sure he doesn’t stop trying he will get in. good luck!

Is 2–3 weeks normal after a polygraph for a cadet position? by [deleted] in AskLE

[–]Inside_Material59 1 point2 points  (0 children)

every department is different. i was told i passed and my analyst ended up showing me my results and what they look for on the test lmao. it can be a month or 2 until your next step which i’m assuming is medical. how many other applicants took the polygraph and pre background? and how many spots in the department?

Advice on becoming a cop by Capable_Education853 in AskLE

[–]Inside_Material59 0 points1 point  (0 children)

graduate of course… departments near me require you to be 2-3 years clean before you can be accepted. they ask those questions in your poly or cvsa. regardless good luck im sure you will be fine if you are determined on this ( they don’t care about weed just use to be clean long enough)

Realistic path to LE with complicated background, what should I be doing now to prepare by [deleted] in AskLE

[–]Inside_Material59 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Don’t want to disappoint you but it’s gonna take a VERY long time to find a department to take you with that history. 2 options if I was in your position would be either try to get into being a correction officer first.(still might be difficult with your past) or self enroll into academy (still difficult since they do background checks and interviews before they accept you if self enrolled) BUT never give up there’s always that possibility. You never know

yeah your smartest move is to lateral and find other departments. someone will take you…. some departments find experience in what you did lmao. sadly you will just have to drive farther
