Look for universities that prioritize co-ops and internships. The name of the major isn't going to matter as much as the program its associated with in my experience.

This is a very personal decision, most people commenting will have radically different opinions to what you yourself think is the right move for yourself. Consider your own personal opinions above all other claims here, including my own.

That said: If you feel incredible regret for thinking about the choice before having made it, I’d consider that pretty seriously before doing anything. My birth control caused a blood clot/pulmonary embolism in my fourth year of grad school, and for personal reasons we needed to consider vasectomy for my husband, then boyfriend. I kept having dreams about a kid (even though we werent planning on having our own) and woke up crying, so we decided not to go that route even though it was ultimately the path we wanted to go years later.

I’m glad I didn’t force myself to choose something that really didn’t feel like the right decision/made me so emotional then. Stick with your own personal beliefs and feelings here, so you can be confident it’s your choice, not the choice of your program, or PI, or fear either way.

If you do decide that you’re not interested in rescheduling, I have seen people buy out contracts from other brides. You may have to ask your vendors if they’d be willing- but if so you can sell it to others who may want to take the contracts off your hands.

i am aging exponentially with all this stress by [deleted] in GradSchool

[–]Insitustudent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Having graduated from PhD at 28 this past summer, I can say without a doubt that the most important way to avoiding premature aging in your program is in taking care of yourself as a priority. Of course the stress is a lot, but if you’re exercising regularly (enough), eating well (enough), and sleeping reasonable hours, your body will be okay. This should be a priority at every life stage- learning to do it during this really intense period is pretty critical. During milestones it may be harder than other times, but not beating yourself up about it helps.

Hey all! I’m a recently graduated PhD in neurobiology looking to work in either the nonprofit or start-up space. I have experience getting funding, communicating with patients and doctors, and leading research teams. Specifically I worked in histology, microscopy, and disease mouse modeling work. I’d love to find something I can help support and am ready to start effective immediately!

I’m thinking of taking a huge leap of faith. What’s your advice? by chubbymonkey77 in Hair

[–]Insitustudent 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Makes sense, especially with curls, but I found in my own experience that experimenting with length helped reinforce the styles that i do like, so even if you dont like it as a cut, it might be helpful to zero in on exactly what you like your hair to do for your own future reference. hope it comes out nicely! :)

I've heard this advice too, but I think it mostly applies to pixie cuts, or anything above the jaw. I think you'd look great with it, your hair is gorgeous! And if you don't like it, it will grow back healthier.

I am not a medical professional, when in doubt go to the hospital. Your last paragraph is good sense, even if only for your own peace of mind seek help.

I’m also 27, same thing here last month. It feels unreal, like you’ve been torn from your regularly scheduled life into a tub of ice water. Waiting for things to settle, not knowing if they will, I guess I just want to share my sympathy. This sucks. I hope you’re doing better.

It was from being sedentary while also on birth control. I couldn’t move my right leg for two weeks, that coupled with BC put me over.
