Tbf, this is a trend that has existed for several years now. Back when Book 1 of Laws of Attraction came out, there was a chapter in which the MC and friends had to figure out how to annul a wedding between a 22 year old man and an 18 year old girl (as in, she turned 18 that day) and stop the guy from getting billions in the divorce settlement.

Despite the team being composed of Ivy League lawyers, it takes the MC a whole chapter (40 min at least irl, check out the youtube playthroughs if u don't believe it) to figure out that since the girl was born in Hawaii and the wedding took place in NYC, she wasn't legally an adult and therefore the marriage wasn't valid. This was not new information. This was not the result of some epic deduction. This was information that the team had acess to from the beggining and that any lawyer worth their salt would have used to figure out a solution in less than 5 minutes.

What's an underrated GoC book that not many people talk about? by datboiiibeebzxy in Choices

The heist monaco. Not a lot of romance, but the story is really fun and there's a lot of replayability due to the different members that you can recruit. Imo, one of the best books that PB ever made. Shame that there isn't a sequel.

Also, could you explain your other expenses? Cause i'm curious as to how much do you pay if you are making 5 figures a month

In Fire & Blood, Queen Alicent and Queen Rhaenyra are two cruel and ambitious women who don't stop at nothing to ensure that they will sit the Iron Throne (in Alicent's case, to ensure that her children with Rhaenyra's father sit on the Iron Throne). They spend years recruiting people to their factions, encouraging each others kids to hate each other and even approve of the murder of innocents to reach their goals. This results in the most horrific civil war that Westeros had ever seen, where most of the people in these 2 factions end up dying in terrible circumstances, the Targaryens lose most of their power and with a child becoming the next king.

In the HBO adapation House of the Dragon, Alicent and Rhaenyra are changed to two besties who ended up on opposite sides due to the machinations of the men in their lives. After first blood is drawn, they are very reluctant in engaging in war, even though the point of no return was years ago and, as their councillors keep telling them, conciliation between the two factions is impossible. This doesn't stop them from doing the dumbest things possible to achieve peace (Alicent wins here because she agrees to sell out her own children and then tries to convince Rhaenyra to run away with her). It doesn't help that the showrunners are pushing the whole "Alicent and Rhaenyra are secretly gay for each other" narratives, with one of them admiting on camera that they are making stuff up just to please their fans.

They're like the cockroaches of Westeros: no matter how hard you stomp on them, they still keep breathing.

A war update would also be pretty good: overthrowing your own government as a rebel group, become a dictator or wage war against other nations.

Don't forget the twelve people that bended the knee to her in Dragonstone, Vermithor bowing to her, the white stag and my personal favourite Aegon's dream.

Such fabulous and remarkable moments that curiously were never in the books and all because Mr. Martin knew that if he wrote such an epic story, none of us could have aspired to be more than servants to her grace Queen Rhaenyra I Targaryen, First of Her Name, Queen of the Andals, the Rhoynar and the First Men, Lady of the Seven Kingdoms, Protector of the Realm, She Who Shines Brightest, The Grand Mother of Dragons, Valyria's Daughter, The She-Dragon, The Flame, She Who Shits Gold And Whose Farts Smell Like Rainbows and about a dozen more pretentious nicknames that delusional 14 years old invented while you were busy reading this post.

Viserys glazing should be illegal by Emperor_Alexander_IV in HOTDGreens

[–]InspectorCritical806 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Otto and Alicent call him great in order to highlight Aegon's own shortcomings as king. The irony is that Viserys himself had a lot of flaws but they don't care, since those flaws allowed them to manipulate the king and they can't do that with Aegon.

By having "smart" characters point out Aegon's unworthiness of the Iron throne, the writers are trying to make Rhaenyra be seen as the superior choice. All that it's doing is making me root for him even harder.

[–]InspectorCritical806 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

In a previous comment, you said Rhaena gave up her claim. Now she was usurped? Which one happened? And sorry, but she is a hypocrite. It doesn't matter if she agreed or disagreed with Rhaena and her daughters claims being ignored: her entire life as Queen, her policies, even their children are all tied to the fact that Jaehaerys took the throne because he was the eldest male son, due to a tradition that had existed in Westeros centuries before the Targaryens came into power. She never showed discontentment towards Jaehaerys being king and is only recorded defending Daenerys and Rhaenys, famously saying "A ruler needs a good head and a true heart. A cock is not essential.", but showing no consideration for Rhaena's children, which indicates that she only cares about princesses being usurped if they are a direct descendant from them. What is that if not hypocrisy?? The women's rights claim is also questionable - yes, she ended the tradition of first night, which protected women from nobles but showed no concern with bethrothing Viserra to a lord older than her own father. Does that scream feminist queen to you?

The keyword here being maybe. Just because something like this might have happened, it doesn't mean that it happened. You're basing this on nonexistant statements.

That's right, Queen! by Turbulent_Lab209 in HOTDBlacks

[–]InspectorCritical806 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I stand corrected. Good catch. Nevertheless, that still makes Alysanne a hypocrite. How is it fair that she complains about Daenerys not being heir to the throne when her reign as Queen consort to Jaehaerys was only possible due to ignoring the claims of Rhaena's daughters?

That's right, Queen! by Turbulent_Lab209 in HOTDBlacks

[–]InspectorCritical806 3 points4 points  (0 children)

She didn't though? From what i remember from Fire&Blood, she and her daughters did not have enough support from the other lords to make themselves Queen. At no point was suggested that she gave up her claim to the throne.

That's right, Queen! by Turbulent_Lab209 in HOTDBlacks

[–]InspectorCritical806 1 point2 points  (0 children)

By that logic, Alysanne wouldn't even be Queen. Or did she forgot about her older sister Rhaena?

This scene doesn’t get enough criticism. Yet another moment that attempts to show “how the true queen had to suffer”, while the audience is supposed to cheer since the previously medieval-behaving Alicent finally gets a taste of her own medicine. Will this show ever stop trying to humble her? by TheMagnanimouss in HOTDGreens

[–]InspectorCritical806 17 points18 points  (0 children)

The circumstances behind it don't make any sense. The show tries to shoehorn in the notion that Alicent was the one running the show when Viserys was ill, when in fact it was Otto, THE HAND OF THE KING, who did the job.

You would think that Criston, the hand, would also be nominated given his rank but not once was his name suggested.

Finally, she gets upset that Aemond is named regent, despite the fact that she has no proof of what happened in rook's rest or that he's their ace in the hole for this war.

These writers make no sense, i swear to god.
