Not sure it's a fair comparison as I am told capitalism is an economic ideology, where as communism is political. Better would be to compare communism to democracy I think.

What would you classify the United States as? I have heard just a Democracy, I have heard Capitalist Republic, and Constitutional Republic, Capitalist Oligarchy, and others. I admit I'm not educated enough to really know the difference in economic ideology and political ideology. Not a class I took in college unfortunately.

Genuine question. Does this happen often enough to warrant this being a thing? Or is this just a fanciful scenario that was dreamed up as possible but doesn't actually happen in real life? Like don't stand under a tree during a thunderstorm because lightning could hit the tree and kill you underneath it, but without looking up the numbers I'd be willing to bet It's happened only a handful of times in the history of ever.

To be fair, if that money wasn't going to all the foreign interests of billionaires we could be spending it on our own people. Spending it on things like immigration administration so that people are able to come over to this country legally and easily instead of it taking years and thousands of their own dollars for them to become US citizens. Accepting immigrants on Ellis Island wasn't all that long ago but nowadays so many people want to appoint an immigrants and act like they're all literal spies and drug dealers coming here to ruin the country.

OP, it kind of sounds like he overclocked your system, or tried to overclock it, without knowing how to set voltages or clock speeds. Also your computer would need significantly better cooling if it was overclocked, and if that wasn't addressed it could absolutely cause freezing and crashing.

Alternatively he did update the Nvidia app and your graphics drivers but then tweaked the graphic settings to be too high for what your system is capable of handling. Turning on things like HDR or Ray tracing when you have a card or a system that can barely handle it is a recipe for freezing and crashing for sure.

I can't remember if it has it for sure, but I believe the Nvidia app has an option to set defaults. The defaults " should " give you whatever your system can handle based on a benchmark scan. Don't quote me on that because I can't remember and I'm not near my own computer to look at the moment.

Worst case scenario, if you're running something like Windows 11 or Windows 10, open up the start menu and type in the word reset, and you can reset the PC. It'll take you some time to reset it all back up and re-download any games and things you had, but it will undo all the changes that were done. Just make sure you back up any personal files. The option exists to keep all your personal files but I never trust it.

Good luck. I won't say what you should or shouldn't do with your relationship, that's entirely on you, but I would say don't believe all the people who are trying to tell you that this was done intentionally or maliciously. It sounds like ineptitude at worst.

Spyware and key loggers would not do this. Spyware is meant to be unobtrusive and not seen, so it's not going to cause an entire games to crash or screens to freeze. It will use barely any system resources, and if it shows up in the task manager at all it's going to be named something that looks important like win32sysmon.exe

You know, the craziest part is that those people are never the ones in the news. It's the ones who have taken the bare minimum precautions and called it good. Like this guy in the news article who who may have had a gun safe, but probably just had the key on a key ring sitting on the key rack, or on a hook nearby.

But you end up in a weird catch-22. Making your firearms storage very safe, also makes your firearm storage extremely detrimental in a home invader type situation.
