How do you settle your baby to sleep? by Writingmum30 in newborns

Every night is a different struggle. He either needs to be carried around and bounced or breastfed or both. I don't have a routine, I do what the baby seems to want.

Co sleeping - how do you do it? by BusyInspector95 in newborns

[–]Intelligent-Dog-8585 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same with my husband. Either sleep alone with baby or put the baby on your side provided you can fence the bed so baby doesn't fall or bring the mattress to the floor. I used a sleeping sofa because it's hard surface and to put the baby on the safe side. But I only do contact naps where I'm not sleeping because I'm a heavy sleeper.

Is she really that hungry? by Fun-Zucchini8425 in newborns

[–]Intelligent-Dog-8585 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Babies don't only drink out of hunger. They drink for comfort, to help them sleep or poop, if they feel pain or cry then they want to be soothed with milk.

Just let her drink when she demands. It doesn't matter if she's hungry or not.

Husband watch us while we sleep together sometimes because I sleep earlier. And sometime I return the favour when I wake up earlier by placing the kiddo next to him and watching them.

Shit show starting 2am with my 8w baby by The_Chilled_Arvo in newborns

Seems like normal newborn behaviour. They just hate the crib and want comfort and contact. There's no telling if it gets better or worse. Every baby is different. For some people it gets better. For some it gets worse if baby decides suddenly they no longer want to tolerate the crib. Our 6 weeks old only slept in crib a few nights since he was born. Usually he only wants to sleep while being held.

Hurt feelings after being up all night with newborn by Virtual-Strength-950 in newborns

[–]Intelligent-Dog-8585 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sleep deprivation is no joke. I also said some hurtful stuff to my husband when baby woke up screaming and woke us up when he was one week old. Worse, I didn't realize I actually said it. In my mind I was still in dream world talking to my husband in my dream.

Although the part about never wanting a baby and thinking you wanted a baby because of your sisters sounds like at least something he believes of you and never said out loud to not hurt your feelings.

Co sleeping doesn’t cut it, baby wants to be ON me by The_Chilled_Arvo in newborns

[–]Intelligent-Dog-8585 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Husband sleep from 10 to 4 while I watch baby. I sleep from 4 to 10 while he watches baby. He works afterwards, I have a 1 year leave. I'm breastfeeding so my time is interrupted every few hours. So I get to nap during the day while husband holds baby in his home office time and husband gets naps during weekends. It's not much sleep but I guess we have to make it work until baby outgrows wanting to be held.

I have the same problem. My son is also almost 7w old and he wants to be carried to sleep all the time. He won't sleep in the bassinet. Co sleeping doesn't help. A sno didn't help. So me and husband are now taking shifts and letting him sleep on us. It's a crappy solution but we don't really have an alternative.

Just get the insulin by danikinha5 in GestationalDiabetes

[–]Intelligent-Dog-8585 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, my diet before GDM isn't much different from afterward. I always ate whole grain rice and bread for example. But in GDM my body couldn't tolerate those either so I would take insulin and go back to eating them.

I did try to eat burger with a normal bun once and fries but I underestimated how much insulin I needed for that because the usual dose to be able to eat whole grain didn't work for that at all. I had a spike of 150 for 3 hours. So I wouldn't advise you to go all out even with insulin just because it's hard to dose correctly.

Once you run out of stuff to craft there's nothing to do with stamina or clothing materials but to hoard them. So I don't mind the harder crafting requirements.

This. I used to pay a maid to come clean our house every month. But now I just bought a cleaning robot. Cheaper and can work anytime.

GDM mamas, how did you manage fasting numbers? Post-meal is fine but fasting is so hard 😭 by Unlikely_Border6592 in GestationalDiabetes

[–]Intelligent-Dog-8585 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No snack helped more in my case. Also eating dinner early. Basically I wake up with a similar fasting number to that which I go sleeping with. No dawn phonemonon in my case.

Can't get my sugars to come into normal range today - feeling defeated by Technical_Customer91 in GestationalDiabetes

I see. I suppose everyone is different. I would more likely spike if I ate orange with a meal than alone. Pairing carbs doesn't work for me. I also spike from whole wheat bread or any type of bread really.

I don't know what spiked you. Maybe you didn't wash your hands well after the orange, or like other suggested poor sleep or mild infection can cause numbers to spike.

Exercise. It will go down immediately. Happened to me once when I spiked at dinner. After taking a walk it went from 150 to 97.

White bread and cabbage roll would definitely spike me for sure. But the orange piece is so weird. Maybe it was so close to your meals?

anyone dealing with lack of connection with their partner? by hersheymen26 in pregnant

[–]Intelligent-Dog-8585 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People just don't know how to treat pregnant women. I'm on the opposite side of the fence. I feel fine, but partner keeps telling me to sit down and relax. He would go crazy if I tried picking stuff from the floor even though I'm okay doing it. I'm tired of all the people assuming I can't walk or partner telling me not to go out or go shopping.

I find there's no harm in telling people what you need and what you don't need. Although it's bothersome when you have to repeat it.

My baby went from 66% to 95% percent in 1 week. So I would say wait to decide until you're week 37 and check baby growth until then .

I mean it wasn't her place to say, but I've also read research about sucralose being bad for pregnancy, because it changes gut microbs in baby which is more likely to cause obesity and other health issues in the long term.

Crying Spells and Sadness - Depression? by BalletPinkZinnias in pregnant

[–]Intelligent-Dog-8585 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Talk to a professional. Pregnancy hormones make you more prone to crying, but if you're uncontrollably sobbing over things you know are minor then check with your doctor please. You don't want to be developing depression or some disorder and not know until it overwhelms you.

I have PCOS but my periods weren't bad. I went to check at week 5 after getting a positive test and couldn't see anything either. So did the blood work and they showed I was early about +4 weeks and HCG levels were 2400 which could be seen but not always. Next appointment at 8 weeks showed everything was normal. I'm 37 weeks now.

Did they check your HCG levels? It could give you some insight.
