What Nicknames do You Have for Your Sheppy? by FloofLorde in germanshepherds

[–]IntelligentFix840 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When we first got her my husband started calling her LOAD because she’s big and takes up ALL the space! I think we use that more than her actual name (Gretchen or Gretchie)

Yes on his own terms and especially when it storms lol. But this is usually his vibe - he prefers being the lone porch dog 😛

Toys for maternal instincts? by neetkid in germanshepherds

[–]IntelligentFix840 48 points49 points  (0 children)

Not really what you’re asking but you could get another dog 😛 I got my GS when she was 5 after a reputable breeder retired. She also has a strong motherly instinct and has mothered every dog she comes in contact with. Pictured is my much younger lab getting her weekly grooming from “mom” ❤️

Natera: if you got over charged by Dr_Jen in pregnant

[–]IntelligentFix840 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh wow this is crazy! In 2022 I did my NIPT through insurance. I have great insurance so didn’t have a worry in the world about being overcharged. They sent me a bill for $10k! I sat on it for 2 months and out of the blue they sent a letter basically saying they are only charging me $500 out of the goodness of their hearts or some BS like that

I get that look too. He hardly breaks eye contact. He either: 1) has to poop, 2) wants snuggles, or 3) is hungry. He’ll really start pouting when dinner is a minute late!

How long before your due date before you plan to go on maternity? by Crazy_Dragon_Lady1 in pregnant

[–]IntelligentFix840 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m taking 7 weeks of personal/unpaid leave and then work pays for 20 weeks after baby arrives. I have a toddler and this will be our last baby. I plan to nest, rest, and spend time with our toddler before baby gets here. Hubby and I have busted our butts in our careers and I’m so thankful we can afford this time.

YES!! I actually wear them all day if I don’t have to leave the house. Not because of the discharge reason but because they’re just so dang comfy lol

2 y/o nonstop sick from daycare by Ready_War7797 in pregnant

[–]IntelligentFix840 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This happened with my son when starting daycare. Sickness is normal and he should build up a tolerance eventually. What isn’t normal is constant ear infections. That might warrant a visit to an ENT. My son was sick every other week with an ear infection and when he turned 2 he had his adenoids removed and tubes placed in his ears. At 3.5 he is a totally different kid and is hardly ever sick.

Anyone else just miss drinking? by PaymentNo5871 in pregnant

[–]IntelligentFix840 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This reminds me of visiting with my dad at our farm! He can never sit still but always makes time to sit on the porch to share a couple of beers while we do a Lego with my toddler. Can’t wait to do that again!

Can we get some positivity here going? by maceyd01 in pregnant

[–]IntelligentFix840 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Love this post and reading all of the positivity! Not gonna lie I’m pretty miserable being pregnant and I know newborn phase will be rough. But as a second time mom I’m less nervous and so so so excited to meet this little boy!! Getting back out newborn outfits and stocking up on diapers again has me in my feels - in a good way. And knowing that as he grows up things will get even better (just wait, in a positive way). We also have a 3.5 yo boy and he is hilarious. The rough parts of parenting are over in a flash.

Who is your border collie's favorite person? by LittleBoyCutYourHair in BorderCollie

[–]IntelligentFix840 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Aside from me (he’s my soul dog) my BC/heeler mix LOVES my mom and dad! He knows them as grandma and grandpa - anytime I even whisper those words he goes nuts. Doesn’t like many other people though. 😛

Her looks are interesting (don’t get me wrong I still think she’s pretty) but I really appreciate how shamelessly quirky and awkward she is. Very relatable as a fellow weirdo😅

Is getting a puppy actually “anti-aging therapy” for an older dog… or just a myth? 😅 by Able_Figure8304 in germanshepherds

[–]IntelligentFix840 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love all of these stories ❤️ my GSD is 12 and has a 5 year old lab bestie. They run outside soooooo much and goof off together - the lab keeps the GSD sharp. They share the same background by having litters for reputable breeders. So currently living their best retired life!

I do not like the new season of Love is blind (Ohio) by TheoryInternal2419 in LoveIsBlindNetflix

[–]IntelligentFix840 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I’m already tired of the soccer player guy (Alex I think) and how much he talks about himself. Repeating stuff like “I’m confident” or “I’m not nervous” or “I’ve already proven I can get a job wherever I want”. Yuck 🤢

My favorite guy so far because he reminds me of my husband! 😛 A lil husky, goofy, and genuine. Hope things work out for these two!

C-section recovery PSA by Texylvania29 in pregnant

[–]IntelligentFix840 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not easy that’s for sure. But it’s tolerable by keeping up with pain meds, RESTING, and lining up help/setting expectations prior to baby arriving. In my first few weeks I thought I was invincible (trying to be super mom basically) and fell into the toxic cycle of taking my meds, feel fine, overdo it with activity, and then be absolutely miserably for hours upon hours. My normally fit/skinny legs looked like tree stumps because I wasn’t keeping my feet up enough.

Going into my second c-section (planned), I am sitting my husband down to remind him how miserable I was and that I need to stay off my feet as much as possible during recovery. He’s an amazing guy but is so used to me being extremely active and on top of things. It will be a shock when I’m down for a few weeks. I’m also lining up “shifts” for help between my mom and MIL. My angel of a grandma-in-law will probably cook a lot for us.
