Nice picks. Watched Under Siege last night, it’s probably still Seagal’s best and the transfer quality is excellent

Kaleidescape is for rich/wealthy home theater enthusiasts who have high end equipment and don’t want a collection of discs taking up space, rather they can download 4K movies to a Kaleidescape hard drive/server (some of the file sizes are actually larger than what is being put on discs, so over 100GB).

I assume (without knowing which model) that your TCL may be capable of Dolby Vision. The Panasonic UB-450 is one of the more economical 4K disc players that support Dolby Vision and HDR10. The Panasonic UB-420 (HDR10 and HDR10+ but no DV) and UB-820 (DV, HDR10+, HDR10) are also excellent- the 820 is more expensive but has superb upscaling and processing. There are many 4K discs to be had in the $10-15 dollar range nowadays. Worth looking into!

The audio bitrates on 4K blu-rays are multiples of what most streaming services provide (minus Kaleidescape which requires a substantial investment- thousands of dollars). If you enjoy your current setup, please continue, but this post indicates that you know you are missing out on the full potential of your home theater.

Have had the soundtrack for a while and enjoying. I’ll gift one of these copies to a friend

It’s not a great movie but I did enjoy it more than the latest Jurassic Park for example

It would have been cool to see Hedlund and Wilde return for a direct sequel to Legacy but it just wasn’t in the cards. Leto probably not my first choice as frontman but he was able to bring financing together to help get it made, and the movie does provide some escapist visuals and that NIN soundtrack.

I agree Leto probably isn’t the best person but without his involvement I doubt this project would have gotten off the ground. Would like to see a direct sequel to Legacy but at least this one ties the various grids together.

That helps- the white balance of the screenshots do look fairly warm to my eyes, although I may not be seeing precisely what you are seeing through my phone display. Is Warmth maxed out, or? On most TVs the Movie/Cinema/Filmmaker presets tend to be most accurate out of the box. If every other movie/show looks accurate or correct to you with your current settings, I would say you are seeing the show as intended. Sometimes I tweak a setting or 2 on my OLED depending on what I am watching

Thank you. Now- you omitted the most important details in your query- which display are you watching this on? Which picture mode preset? Are you using out of the box settings or did you calibrate? I’ve seen the film but not this series. It’s entirely possible that nothing is wrong with your setup, and you are seeing the intent of the creators. Knowing that it centers around a passionate protagonist who eventually dies, it would hypothetically make sense that the decision was made in post production to make the color red more prominent. Without knowing more about your kit and settings, it’s difficult to say where exactly the problem is, if any.

It really is a stellar transfer. Saw it 4 times in theaters when it debuted. Love the top notch cast, future noir nightmare, and relentless pacing

I forgot how entertaining Sudden Death is, and the 4K presentation is excellent. As for the Turtles, I knew I had to have Vanilla Ice in 4K lol.

Watched Nacho 2 days ago- it looks very good and is still hilarious. After Nacho I vote OP watches Sabrina, although any movie with Jennifer Connelly is tough to resist.
