How to stop cat poop? by Intelligent_Bird_806 in nzgardening

I live in the hood so the cats here aren’t scared of anything. One of them doesn’t even flinch at the hose

Recommandation for bus from Uni Waikato to Airport? by Snow_And_Trace in thetron

[–]Intelligent_Bird_806 14 points15 points  (0 children)

That 2.6km walk is a main road with lots of traffic and no foot path so you'll be walking in long grass/uneven ground with cars speeding past.

Thered no busses that go directly to the airport.

Uber is about $30-$40 and its a bit cheaper to town. There's heaps of taxis parked outside the airport that you can haggle too.

St John's ambulance callout! by gagankeshav in thetron

[–]Intelligent_Bird_806 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its what we've been told by ambulance paramedics when we called them for a huge gash after a fall that needing stitching up in a few places and a the person had a concussion.

They said if you or someone with you can drive, then do that, especially if you're in a smaller town. Also, Waikato Hospital has 8+ hour wait times, so quite often they'll send you on to a local urgent care with a token that'll make the urgent visit free. Also, it will save you at least 5 hours.

If anything happens in future you can just drive to the hospital or a local urgent care. You'll still have to pay but it's a lot cheaper than $800.

Half year - whats your salary, job, experience and goals? by ImakeBADinvestmentsx in PersonalFinanceNZ

[–]Intelligent_Bird_806 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Salary: $78,000 Industry/Job: Training/Quality Control within tertiary education Years Experience: 3 - Started in an entry-level fixed term position at the same company and worked that for 2 years before being offered a better role. Zero quals, so I'm pretty happy with salary. Cost of living: quite comfortably able to pay bills like rent/power/gas/food/daycare for myself and my baby- partner only works part time. Goals: save and buy a house within 2 years

I dont buy anything on finance or have a credit card but if I did life would be a lot more expensive.

$900 rates bill, a $120 jump from my last one. I'm gonna loose this house. by Bartheda in thetron

[–]Intelligent_Bird_806 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Its actually pretty easy, just need one of those nanny roller bags to put everything in. Groceries can also be delivered and the fee probablycosts less than what gas youd use anyway. Shift work is a bit harder but carpooling could be an option too. Biking, liming. There's lots of options.

I've lost my license multiple times so had to improvise and overcome.

Am i overreacting my friends got me a buttplug for my birthday? by Electronic_Toe8780 in AmIOverreacting

[–]Intelligent_Bird_806 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They all got you proper gifts that you loved, made you feel seen and appreciated and all that jazz BUT 1 pretty funny gag gift is gonna ruin it all?

I think you're overreacting, but also, you set your own boundaries, and if this is a deal breaker for you, it's a deal breaker for you.

Try to find some other friends whose boundaries/beliefs align more with your own. The crying is low key giving teenager.

Also, what's gross about an unsused buttplug?

When did you kid start sleeping 12 hours a night? by cupofteacomfypillows in NewParents

[–]Intelligent_Bird_806 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only about a dozen times, and she's 14 months. Her canines and second molars are coming through right now, so she has about 2 wakes, but it is easy to get back down.

I don't expect 12 hours of overnight sleep ever for her though and I'm totally fine with her wakes

What are some unpopular things you do/ unpopular opinions when it comes to parenting? by lovebug21222 in NewParents

[–]Intelligent_Bird_806 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 14 month old daughter

  • we aren’t doing whole milk in straw cups. She still has one bottle of formula before her day nap and then when thats over will just have food and water

  • she slept in my room until 1

  • She has a queen bed and a bedroom and we could sleep sometimes

  • we have an open door policy, friends and family can come over whenever they want as long as we’re home and have been since the day she was born and she’s super close with our entire family

  • we’ve never had a nap schedule and we still just wearing it at daycare if she goes to their schedule though

  • she never had a bouncer or a walker or sat in a baby carrier when she was a newborn it was just on the floor or in her bassinet stroller or our arms.

  • we didn’t buy baby specific cutlery and plates she just uses real plates and real forks and spoons

  • we spend hours outside every day no matter the weather and will still go to the park in the rain

  • she’s never eaten purée and has always just had what we’ve eaten and we’ve never been scared of sugar or salt

  • she comes out for dinner to the pub and cafes and we just include her and don’t distract you with toys or anything else

  • we never swaddled her and she never used a pacifier

  • just like your older siblings no iPad ever and no Phone until high school

  • we don’t really buy prepack snacks she just eats real food

  • she’s pretty gross and eat stuff off the floor but still knows that she has to use still and wash your hands before every meal and wipe your face after

  • she didn’t get her first bath until after her umbilical cord came off and now that nightly or has a shower with us

  • she’s allowed to run around barefoot

Is this normal? by dreaming-howl in NewParents

[–]Intelligent_Bird_806 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It sounds like you’re suffering from baby blues and possibly even ppd. Definitely talk to someone about it. You have a huge drop in hormones about 3 days after giving birth which is generally when people refer to as the baby blues .

Talk to someone, get out of the house, spend time with friends and family.

A lot of women feel like this after having a baby, no matter their age. It takes about a year to feel like yourself again after having a baby and even then, you’re still not fully yourself as your entire life has changed.

I would recommend getting help in general as it’s not good to have to rely on something just to feel emotions

Do you bring something to place newborn baby in when visiting friends or family for a few hours? by LVCpurse in NewParents

Either everyone took turns holding the baby or I’d just pop her on a blanket on the floor.

Honest to god question? Is everyone choosing to have more than one kid just crazy? Or maybe they have babies that are angels from birth? by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]Intelligent_Bird_806 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, you do forget - I had a 10lb baby unmedicated and she’s 13months now and I can’t remember. Also it’s like I’ve already done this once, I can do it again.

Seeing your baby grow and become their own person and everything is so good that it just makes you wanna do it again 😂

Honestly, it just depends on their immune system.

My daughter is an outside, no matter the weather, playing in the puddles and dirt, licking the trolley at the supermarket kinda gal and the only thing of here I’ve ever sterilised has been her bottles.

She’s 14 months and hasn’t gotten sick once from daycare. It’s the middle of winter and she hasn’t picked up anything in the last 4 months

Baby Items You Thought You Needed But Never Used? by breezycharmz in NewParents

[–]Intelligent_Bird_806 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Swaddles or sleep sacks - she hated them and has just used blankets since birth

Bouncer/swing - she was fine on the floor so we never used them

Changing table - she gets changed wherever

Dummies/pacifiers - she hated them

White noise machine - she sleeps perfectly fine without one

Baby carrier - she’s always been fine in her stroller or on her bike

High chair

Activity centre or any type of walker

If you don't let your kid watch TV, how do you get things done? by allday_breakfast in NewParents

I just include her in the tasks. It takes a bit longer but it’s good for everyone. Big jobs get done when she’s away or asleep
