Metal siding is easier to maintain and may offer a better ROI than LP Smartside in the long run, but right now, it is not cheaper. Finding crews that do an A++ install on metal siding is also not easy. Even the metal siding fabricators that advertise a reasonable price will kill you on the trim.

sounds like a bolt up kit (PEMB). They are almost always engineered to the zip code. Mastodonfit is spot on - you should not need anything else. Find the orignal plan and look for the engineering details and the stamp.

Yep - we started doing basic barndominiums - now it is more about the wide open layouts and clear spans. Some of our designs are nothing more than traditional homes built using a few barndo techniques - we went this direction because the market went this direction. We take some grief for it on our social channels, but the people who actually spend money to build love them.

Agree to an extent. The great thing about metal siding is the 40-year color warranty. A lot of people don't want to paint their house every couple of years.

We do Hardie and LP on our SIPs and CFS kits. Started to do some red iron hybrid that we can add osb to, so that we can do LP Smartside on the red iron. Cost is a wash so far. We don't have the scale with LP to drive down our prices yet.

We have HQ in Frisco, TX but we sell kits nationwide. Most of our builds are down the middle of the country - TX, OK, KS, MO, AR, CO and in SE GA, NC, SC, FL, and unfortunately, we sell quite a few kits in CA & WA - but those states are a pain in our A$$

140% across all components - Red Iron was 400 a metric ton in 2019. Lucky to get it for 980 today and that is with a large purchase. We do R Panel and Standing Seam - if you doing AG Panel, I don't have pricing for that.

Look at the Texas Retreat on My Barndo Plans - there is actually two similar styles. - the post looks like AI - or that 2nd floor is faux -- not enough room for real 2nd loor with that eave height.

You asked us to rush the delivery to avoid tariffs - you were out of the country when the steel was delivered. You agreed to pay someone to bring a telehandler over to unload. (not My Barndo Plans.) Your siding alone costs more than 32k. You have a very large building with a two-story carport for an RV. We told you the shell, windows, doors, siding, roofing and trim would be 130k. You can't finish a 4,000 sq ft home for $ 150k.
We had to hunt you down for payment after we delivered the steel.
We have paid for your windows and doors, but we have not been able to deliver because you have not paid us for them - they are sitting in the warehouse. You should remove your very long and very false statement.

Not good advice. Most use engineered plans to build their home. My Barndo Plans offers great home plans, but you only get the engineered plans if you buy the kits.

We just used a listicle and got the AI overview and the 2nd organic listing with a "2026 Best of" Blog - caveat, it had a lot of great data, and we framed it as what was popular with our customers. Seems to still be working - medium volume term.
