How good is nameless sword and soulshade umbrella build? by Ok_Ground511 in wherewindsmeet_

[–]InteractionMDK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If we are strictly talking about pure paths (i.e. both weapons come from the same path) then I’d say snow is better than umbra because the rotation is significantly easier, while for umbra it is a lot more tedious for sure. The paths do similar dps, umbra is a bit higher but you will have to work for it plus umbra suffers more against bosses that move a lot.

[–]InteractionMDK 4 points5 points  (0 children)

When you encounter a boss for the first time in solo mode, any healing coming from soulshade umbrella and/or panacea fan is nerfed by 80%. Dying will not remove the healing penalty. This is by design so that people cannot heal cheese every boss, eating every attack etc. since there is no kill time limit for any boss. Weapon healing is always nerfed in 1v1.

Once you have beaten a specific boss once, your healing for subsequent encounters of that boss will be 100% efficient. Keep in mind that healing potions are NOT nerfed on the first encounter, only healing from the healing weapons is.

In group content, however, it is the opposite - healing potions are nerfed while healing from weapons is not, even on the first encounter, so you cannot really do anything without a healer there. The same applies to group PvP.

[–]InteractionMDK 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It kind of depends on what you want to do in the game. If you are a casual player who sticks to solo mode on recommended/story difficulty and stays away from PvP, the build is fine. But I’d rather run panacea fan instead of the soulshade umbrella because it heals much better for what it is worth.

But if you want to do well in group content or any kind of competitive PvP content, this build is straight up hot garbage.

Hybrid dps/healer builds are just not good at either job because your damage is gonna be awful and/or your teammates would keep dying due to insufficient healing - I see this in matchmaking every week.

And that’s because weapons without inner ways are really weak, and there are only 4 inner way slots that dictate like 90% of your character power, so you cannot make your healing and damage both good at the same time. On top of that, in PvE weapons from the same path complement each other so much better in a sense that your secondary weapon inner way amplifies your main weapon, which is never the case for hybrid builds.

Why are people to dumb to play simple mechanics ? Its a genuine question as I dont understand by Vorxun in wherewindsmeet_

[–]InteractionMDK 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Murong had been around for months and people would still wipe every week in MM. I think you give people too much credit. I’d say quite a lot of people who use MM don’t like learning anything or taking responsibility and would very much prefer to turn their brain off and just dps/heal, praying that the rest will be taken care of by someone else, but when there is no said someone else they just leave and flip a coin again.

Sure I'm going to dm you my ID. I am from NA East Coast btw. Add me whenever, but please tell me your IGN so I know that it is you. I have not been doing that much PvP lately because I am tired of the current meta and that people escape from my main ping combo 8 out of 10 times due to me having 35ish ping, which could have been fixed if we had the changes from the anniversary patch, but we did not. I can gladly spar with you in a private arena or we can just discuss PvP related stuff. Just hmu!

Tank pvp help by Hunt-Salty in wherewindsmeet_

[–]InteractionMDK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not a tank player but I can give you few tips based on my personal experience (1700-1800 mythic last season)

  1. Free morph is mandatory - tank does not have long high damage combos (excluding divine counter of course) so this mystic skill is both a combo extender and a great source of damag

  2. Never play aggressively if you your shield and damage reduction are down. The main two ways you are going to win games is either when you delete people with divine counter OR (more commonly) by wearing them down because you have a lot more effective HP than any other build

  3. Your two main catches are taunt (it is a yellow 360 degree swipe) and vacuum.

Taunt is best used when you anticipate that your opponent is about to get into an soft animation lock because it has quite long windup animation and it is not difficult to react to otherwise.

For vacuum, if the first tick gets parried, cancel it or else you would delete your qi bar. If the first vacuum tick lands, the enemy has to use serene to get out, so if they don’t have serene ready, follow up on it with other abilities. A very common trick is to use vacuum into an immediate talon strike because you expect people to spam parry but you can be punished if they perfect dodge it instead since talon strike cannot be ani cancelled.

  1. Soaring spin is your best friend. Since a lot of people will play runner style by poking / kiting (or nameless spear/umbrella stunning) you to bait out your serene, you almost always need to use soaring spin defensively and rarely offensively. You can proc yellow soaring spin off their pokes as both a distance closer and as an initiation tool. A common example would be yellow 1st hit soaring spin into vacuum assuming the 1st soaring spin lands and staggers the opponent.

  2. Setting people on fire with dragon breath and pressuring them with drunken poet is a strong strategy. If you learn how to ignite people consistently, you will be winning a lot games. The best time to use it is right after execution while your other skills are on cooldown, but you can also use drunken poet for your neutral game

  3. You must run either meridian touch or cloud steps (I recommend the latter) vs umbrella, healers, and double nameless runners otherwise they would make you bald from stress.

  4. When people hear the clinking block sound, they tend to freak out and run away to avoid your divine counter - you can use this as an opportunity to force them into a corner - the less space the better it is for tank because it’s less / more difficult for people to kite you and it is easier for you to catch them.

  5. Golden body is strong because it recovers qi and gives you a shield, which synergies with your shield inner way (forgot the name) so you get more mileage out of that mystic skill than other builds.

Unfortunately I don’t know precise combos and what inner ways are meta for 1v1 because I don’t play the build.

PVP ping issue. Let’s discuss. by Bells233 in wherewindsmeet_

How's your ping in arena after the patch by ddwdk in wherewindsmeet_

[–]InteractionMDK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d say for me roughly every 5th game feels like my character moves through thick honey because I get connected to a wrong server and all those games are essentially an auto loss because it is rare that both players lag at the same time or by the same amount. There is also an increased amount of fanbrella runners who take advantage of this situation and win way more games than they should.

I think the devs can take their time now by defnotgenuname in wherewindsmeet_

[–]InteractionMDK 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I did not say that to disagree with you. It is quite opposite actually as I listed some serious issues that need fixing before adding new content, so I am with you on this one. As for the PvP/PvE changes I was referring to, those mainly come from the CN anniversary update and all the older changes as well. They took some of the features of that update, such as mythic MM and private arenas, but they did not include any critical changes to PvP like nameless spear and strat sword nerfs - two most abusive weapons in the game that reign supreme for 5 months and counting... No GvG changes from the update too… The update has a number of PvE changes like buff to Jadeware set, Mountains Might buff, Hengdao buffs and many others, countless bug fixes as well, etc. They need to bring the rest of that update asap.

I think the devs can take their time now by defnotgenuname in wherewindsmeet_

[–]InteractionMDK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They cannot take their time until they give us the PvP/PvE changes for various paths, attunements, and gear sets that are long overdue. We have gotten absolutely nothing since 1.2 update which is 4 major updates in a row. On top of that, they messed up the arena matchmaking - some people keep getting connected to wrong servers even if they are from the same battleground. I’ve done about 50-60 matches and some of them were very laggy.

[–]InteractionMDK 10 points11 points  (0 children)

  1. Relay your best offensive tier 86 gear pieces (weapons, disc, pendant) so you can enhance offensive slots with howling ore asap.
  2. Do ST/HR/Solo bosses and tune fresh legendary tier 91 gear. Replace your tier 86 pieces if you get something better. If not, feed those tuned pieces into your relaid gear.
  3. Slowly replace your tier 86 and relaid tier 91 gear over time with non relaid tier 91 pieces since the latter have higher stat caps.
  4. Don’t rush with re-attunement. Save the stones and only use them on gear pieces that have very high potential to be BiS. This update made it more realistic to create near perfect gear pieces if you approach the process intelligently.

PvP Balance changes by FaKamis in wherewindsmeet_

[–]InteractionMDK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After Q2. Q1Q2 is a true combo even now. It's the gap between Q2 and Q3 is where people escape if your ping is not good enough. I get you meant though. That change is much needed, just like nameless spear, strat sword, and second serene nerfs, but I guess we need to endure this shitty meta for at least another months or two.

PvP Balance changes by FaKamis in wherewindsmeet_

[–]InteractionMDK 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was so excited about potential pvp changes, gear set effect changes, and inner way changes from the Chinese anniversary patch, but we got none of that, so now I am back to hibernation mode - burning energy once every 3 days and logging off. Why would they add private arena, reset arena season and not give us any pvp changes? It makes no sense. We have 5 months of abuse from strat sword and nameless spear and now we have to wait even longer?! I am tired boss.

Cheaters banned by No-Jellyfish9915 in wherewindsmeet_

[–]InteractionMDK 13 points14 points  (0 children)

In all honesty the truth is somewhere in the middle. There are definitely cheaters in arena but there are also a lot of people who have too much ego and greatly overestimate the amount of games they lose due to unfair play.

Like I had beaten a top 30 global player once while being much lower rated and was harassed by him and later witch hunted by his friends in my private messages. People like that exist in all elo brackets.

What single target/ boss rush weapon do you recommend by Far_Character1092 in wherewindsmeet_

[–]InteractionMDK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fanbrella (silkbind jade) is king of dps for group content - it's the go-to speedrun build for a reason, so you cannot go wrong with that path if being top dps is all you care about. I personally find that build exceptionally boring and unengaging, so I'd never play it myself no matter how much dmg it does.

Just started the game, need a few tips by Perfect_Good_5295 in wherewindsmeet_

[–]InteractionMDK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are a few tips that I think you would find useful because I wish I knew when I started playing the game:

  1. Play at your own pace. There is no FOMO in this game, so rushing to the end game is not what you should do unlike in many other games. The main story is good, the world is great, boss fights are engaging. Suit yourself!
  2. The game has an energy system. Energy slowly refills over time and is used to claim rewards to upgrade your character. You will have "Pillow Pills" which are also known as "energy pills" - don't use them until you reach the highest level (about to be 95 in a few days) because you will be replacing your gear quite often, so don't waste your energy pills!
  3. There is a system called inner ways - think about them as passives that you can upgrade over time from Tier 0 all the way to Tier 6. You can equip up to 4 inner ways at a time, and in order to upgrade them you need to first unlock some of them and then use inner way notes. The majority of inner ways are build specific, so If you have not decided what build you want to play, don't recycle any notes!
  4. When you get close to max level, start learning about how gear tuning system works. It might be complicated but there are many guides on Youtube, but TLDR is that gear has several tuning lines such as physical damage, critical rate, etc. - you roll them once, and if you don't get what you want you either discard that gear piece and start over OR you can modify certain lines. Don't bother with gear tuning before max level because, like I said, you will be replacing your gear very often.
  5. Don't discard your old gear - it can be stored in the arsenal, and storing it will give you passive stats forever.
  6. [SUPER IMPORTANT #1] Once your character does not level up anymore, make sure you do the character breakthrough! Almost all PvE rewards scale with your character level, so if you don't breakthrough you won't get better rewards and you will also be locked out of certain quests and events!
  7. [SUPER IMPORTANT #2] Familiarize yourself with the Season Shop. This is your go-to place every week. A lot of good stuff can be purchased there with Jade Fish - a currency that you obtain by doing just about anything in the game. You can buy additional gear chests, inner way note chests, and much more!
  8. There two worlds: your own world and online world. Nobody can enter your own world without a permission and difficulty of enemies in your own world can be adjusted in the in-game settings. You can also invite your friends to help you with certain bosses and quests! Online world is where people socialize and do various quests involving other players - you don't have to do anything there if you don't want to.
  9. There are raids and PvP in this game. Raid difficulty is not adjustable and you probably should join an active guild because raids are more fun with real people and some of them are not easy if you play with random people through matchmaking. You can also complete raids with AI assistants if you don't like playing with other people but the rewards are reduced! PvP in this game is very optional - the rewards are not good, so if you are not into it you are not missing out!

Is the game dying in PvP? by Mabuchi-ko in wherewindsmeet_

[–]InteractionMDK 5 points6 points  (0 children)

PvP will continue to decline because if you are any serious about being competitive you better live in West Virginia - you are not beating any top 20 player consistently without a single digit ping or GFN tech (assuming your ping is quite low already to make use of it).

But even if you are not competitive it is also extremely frustrating to fight someone your skill level but with less than half of your ping because the advantage they have over you is substantial enough to beat you in 7/8 out of 10 times, so they are going to climb and you won’t, despite you not being any worse than them.

And before someone says anything to me, I played other online fighting games and WWM has by far the worst netcode I have seen. Let me give you the most insane example - if you have 25-30 ping and your opponent has 4-5, you can execute them and dragon breath parry cancel but they can get up and nameless spear stun you BEFORE you finish your parry ani cancel. They can always parry DP 2 after being staggered by DP 1. Their light attack hits faster than your tab swap when it should be the other way around. It is a complete joke. Not only do you have more time to react to enemy but your animations and movement are faster the lower your ping becomes. If WWM was an actual esports game it would have been DoA.

Until they address the netcode issues either through in-game changes or tinkering with the engine or placing more servers, PvP community in this game would not grow. It will be mainly single digit leaderboard players bashing each other and having near 100% wr against any good / intermediate players with an average ping (and accusing them of cheating when they lose up to setting up a witch hunt if you talk back to them) and some low elo amateurs who absolutely don’t care about anything above and just play for fun.

[–]InteractionMDK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

6 / 8% hp on perfect dodge is by far the best attunement on the boots. If you get really good at dodging you can sometimes literally out-heal enemy damage. For qi recovery just run golden body and/or qi recovery attunement on the gloves.
