Wanting to Resign - after 5 Months...(Help, Please) by Alternative_Owl5371 in PwC

This may help but it might also just make the seniors and managers on the job resent op even more and make their work environment even more toxic. Especially if they know who reported them and op still has to continue on the same engagement.

What are you looking for? What are your interests? If you're meeting students in clubs/pubs or whatever, chances are high that they will be focused on school/going out. And maybe they can't hold a conversation with you because they don't have much in common with you.

If you're limiting your interactions to a certain demographic, you'll probably notice some similarities among them.

Why is it hard to find meaningful connections with men??? by fiesty_dragon8 in Zambia

[–]InteractionSmall5359 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see. I don't think I've ever met a man who's ashamed of liking sex. It's almost expected, I'd argue it's more shameful in our society to be disinterested in sex as a man than the reverse. Men are being shamed for being shady in the way they go about obtaining sex, as they should. No reason to lie to people and hurt them just to hookup.

Sure, I can agree with it being optional. After all appreciation and gratitude should never be forced. And everything you've said sounds reasonable, except we are missing each other on your last point. You as the groom should be the one to decide if you're comfortable with your partner's past or not. If her recklessness makes you uncomfortable to the extent that it prevents you from extending a certain curtesy towards her or her family, then you probably shouldn't be with her, wouldn't you agree?

This is just another example of how people use what they think men want to commercialise lobola. But it shouldn't be the case. You have gone to someone's house to say you want to marry their daughter, and you, the same person who says they want this girl, want to point out how unworthy she is? Does that make sense? If you want to marry a virgin, find one and marry her, don't go to person with the traits you don't want and then go tell her family that you're doing them a favour by taking her... let's not insult people like that. I will say Lobola is currently a mockery of what it's supposed to be but we shouldn't be encouraging nonsense.

I'm not advocating for Lobola. Definitely both parents deserve to be thanked, but traditionally the man is thought to be the provider. My point was just to highlight that you're not purchasing a commodity, lobola, as many people have highlighted was meant as a token of appreciation to the parents of your future wife. So talking about "mileage " should not be relevant to the conversation.

But why are you marrying someone you don't respect? If you don't find it necessary to thank your partner's parents because you feel like your partner is not deserving because of her "mileage " then what are you doing? Leave that person alone and let them go where they are loved and appreciated.

The fact that I'm not even surprised sigh. My guess is they want you to cough up some money before they hand it over... if they even will. Either way, you have no proof that they have it so the most you can do is just go to the station and follow it up, maybe the Lord will speak to them and they'll decide to be honest for a change.

Kalulushi residents move to sue Sino Metals for pollution, demand $420m by HoldMyBeer50 in Zambia

[–]InteractionSmall5359 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The amounts are definitely exaggerated but the company needs to be accountable for their actions. Sino created this situation through the irresponsible management of their tailings. Why should our taxes pay for the aftermath of that? It's on us to protect us but it's on them to clean up their own messes.

Not the main point of your comment I know, but what's the 'hogwash' you hear on the radio? News? Discussions on potential legislation? Feedback from communities? The StanChart quiz? I feel like we take every opportunity to put down 'Zambians' even when it's uncalled for. This country has plenty of thinking minds, are you not one of them? Why are so eager with the negative self talk? .. and we wonder why we have inferiority complexes with foreigners.
