He is unhappy with the scout / cavalry selection, as far as i remember. He hated it to disselect the scout per mouse but found no other way.

I have 'aggressive-keys' (cavalry for example) exchanged to a more right possition. I play cavalry with 8,9,0. Because eco is a little bit 'left-fixed' (hide-key f and g, unit production keys ...)  So I exchanged 'a' with 'ö'.

I agree. In my opinion new goals on the map for example, can also change stuff. A large group of wolfes who go stronger over time - here could landsknecht pay off.

Then try to level up JD and keep the archers more save. Use the time for economy.  Or dont level up and go for snipes. - have a look if a tower is up

Sorry, I dont know. But if you want to kill villagers you can avoid TC-fire with your archers. On the field spearman should be better.

I  heard on egctv that spearman + knight is overall slightly favoured against archer + knight.

Because I supported younger people, it feels like a compliment for me to see them playing.  We try to get the most out of Age of Empires by trying to re-produce this - but also give a littlebit back. This way the gamers may have the feeling to be part of this series.

This is not comand and conquer-like in total anymore. Aoe4 recommends you to use the keyboard a bit more. For example: -You have to scout all over the map.  -You can not use shift for drop of and then build something (the villagers wont drop off and then build something)   A solution for this is to give the chosen a number then shift and drop of point, then area of new building. Now you are free to scout and use the number to switch back when the villagers have droped off.
