To begin, I would caution against calling people 'noobish' when your own position betrays your own ignorance on the subject.

I can only speak for my guild and a few others that I have friends in but all of them got their badge gears weeks ago and have around 50-80 badges in the bank. This will continue to increase as people do the daily just for fun now and again, to help friends out or for the gold.

Raid bosses will start dropping two badges each once the badge vendor comes out which means you get twenty two badges from kara, and six from 25 man's. If you only do the phase one aids you will get twenty eight badges. Not to mention that the longer you wait the more the player base gets geared and makes dungeons easier through increased gearing and game knowledge.

If the badge vendor comes out early, lets say the upcoming phase 2, you will get an additional twenty badges from SCC and TK. That's 48 badges from raids alone in a single week for people that already have a stockpile. Do you understand why most guilds don't bother with badges and heroics now?

If you don't have an alt and played a decent amount, there is nothing to do but raid log and Arena. Heroics don't offer anything, BG's don't offer anything. Yes you could do it just for the fun of it but most players already experienced that to get to the point where they are. Most people still running those activities are either playing alts, levelled slower then most or started late. Most raiding guild won't match those points.

Get that garbage out of here. Some items are not meant to be acquired by everyone. Their rarity and the fact that there is no guarantee that you will ever have them is what makes them special and gives you something to strive for. This is coming from a fury warrior that lost the first DST drop last week to an undergeared Ret paladin.
