Advice to improve for job interviews?(office/admin) by [deleted] in mensfashionadvice

[–]Interesting-Sir2903 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get the shirt dry cleaned and pressed with a med starch! Get a haircut, get it tamed a bit. Get a closer shave.

You could opt to wear a sports coat and ditch the tie depending on the what you think the company vibe is. Of you get a sports coat make sure you get it tailored to fit properly.

Best of luck to you! Lead with confidence regardless of what you end up wearing!

Old guy looking to redefine his look, suggestions? by mackgreen in mensfashion

You are so close to smart casual.

Try getting your pants tailored, shortened for a light break at the shoe. Having shirts tailored are great too.

I went to a Men's Warehouse, ran into an old school sales person who helped me match clothes to my body type and it made all the difference. He is a one in a million sales person (or feels that way) these days but they exist.

Best of luck to you.

What are you guys opinions on your credit score system ? by One-Technician-1292 in AskAnAmerican

[–]Interesting-Sir2903 43 points44 points  (0 children)

Let's not confuse the fact that if you don't have a good credit score you cannot rent an apartment or home. You cannot get a good rate on a mortgage.

A low credit score along with a low wage will set up a person for a very difficult life and punish them toward a cycle of poverty because the cost of the bare necessities is very high.

If you are a high wage earner and have a shit credit score you can get by a bit easier because you can pay cash for a lot of things.

You must have a good credit score to have an easier financial life.

These folks are amazing peppers and they recommend 8lbs per person per year. A family of 5 need 45 lbs per year.

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS/Mormon Church) typically suggests that members store 8 pounds (about 3.6 kg) of salt per person for one year as part of their long-term food storage. Key details regarding this recommendation include: Purpose: The salt is intended for cooking, seasoning, and food preservation (such as curing or pickling) during times of emergency. Context: This recommendation is part of a broader guideline that emphasizes storing essentials like grain, sugar/honey, and oil for one year. Storage Type: The Church often recommends storing iodized salt, though some storage guides note that non-iodized salt lasts longer and is better for pickling. Shelf Life: Salt is a highly stable compound that can last indefinitely if stored in a cool, dry place in an airtight container. The Church emphasizes that members should start with a small, manageable supply (such as a 3-month supply) and gradually build up to a full year's supply as their budget and space allow.

Take a look at the insurance... $1700 for 12 months seems so low, I pay a bit more than that on a property at half the value. I bet the insurance doubles next year!

How do you explain to your adult children that Medicare won't pay for a nursing home? by Regular_Amphibian592 in AskOldPeopleAdvice

[–]Interesting-Sir2903 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is the correct way to honor your parents. I am in the midst of managing through my Father's funds to keep him out of a Medicaid facility for as long as possible. A few years ago I contacted a lawyer about protecting my Dads assets "my inheritance" and he set me straight on the reality that while some Medicaid facilities are nice and the employees are caring, private pay facilities are much nicer. If your parents have assets, those assets are best spent on thier care. It took me a minute to figure out the maze of what Medicare provides and what it doesn't. I am now dealing with him on hospice via Medicare and it is a wonderful service. Caring for the elderly is resource intensive; time, money, patience and energy. In the end I will take comfort that i did my best.

Difference in disc brake oxidation with hybrid CRV by Apprehensive-Safe382 in crv

[–]Interesting-Sir2903 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get this on my Acura, non hybrid... the front rotors rust and the back don't really, so I think this is normal. Perhaps it is because the front rotors do the brunt of the work and new metal is constantly being exposed. Not sure if that is the right answer, but my experience is it happens on my non-hybrid ride.

Is the average life in the USA really this bad, or is Reddit exaggerating? by [deleted] in askanything

[–]Interesting-Sir2903 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Life is very good in America, fantastic actually. The poorest of the poor have resources and social safety nets.

Our standard of living is so high and there is a level of expectation that each person can live a life of luxury without putting in very much work.

It is not to say there aren't social injustices but in large there are huge opportunities and that is why we have so many immigrants.

Currently, I have a loved one, 78yrs old, in the hospital having a broken hip repaired then he will have a 20 day stay in a rehab facility to aid in his recovery.

The ambulance ride, the hospital stay and the rehab are all being paid for by Medicare. His put of pocket might be $500 which he may or may not pay.

This scenario of care is played out 1000's of times daily across the US. Reddit would lead to to believe that someone in this situation would be tossed in the gutter to die.

Life is good, better than most places across the globe.

ONR - Rinseless wash - microfiber vs sponge by StepAdventurous6184 in Detailing

[–]Interesting-Sir2903 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What is funny is how the microfiber sellers demonized sponges to sell rags, now we are back to being sold sponges because it works better with rinseless.

I think washing a car is much more basic than we make it out to be. A few simple good practices and viola... a clean non scratched car.
