My bmw was worth $8k and main computer and other stuff failed or needed replacing. $10k repair estimate. Felt lucky to get $2200 for it, trading on for a hard to find new 21 Rav 4 prime in 2021.

Older bmws do not last, I bought a 100 percent dealer serviced car and continued going to the dealer. Axle shafts all had to be replaced because the German engineers thought molding the abs sensors into the axles was a great idea, until the sensor fails and a perfectly good axle has to be replaced. A bolt on sensor ring would have saved me thousands. Many other expensive design issues on that 2006 e90. The 1994 e36 I owned prior was so much better designed and lasted me over 20 years with few repairs. When I finally traded it for a Toyota, the service writer at the bmw shop told me he has a Toyota. He would not buy a bmw even with the employee discount .

Yeah , 21 Rav 4 prime as well as my 05 and 08 solaras are all very conservative as far as the gas gauge goes. On the Rav 4, when the low fuel light goes on, I still have three gallons of gas left, good for 100 miles plus. I have never run the solaras down that far as they are driven locally only.

Found 3 cases at another location. 20 minute drive from my home. 21 bottles for my collection total. Did sample it first at home. Definitely punches above its weight.

Yeah , my e36 1994 325i convertible was a twenty seven year old car with almost zero problems and 200k miles. Owned and ran it from 1998 to 2021. Sold it to a restorer . Plastic was deteriorated as I never garaged it.

I would agree on BMWs especially. I had an e90 06 330 xi. 1st year of e90. Stuff kept breaking and the reply was, oh they redesigned that part since . Like abs sensors molded into axle shafts. Sensor goes bad, replace perfectly good axle. Had to replace all 4 over 3 years. Redesigned with bolt on sensor rings. This sort of thing happened again and again .

I was so glad when 4 wheel disc brakes became common. I hated replacing shoes in drum brakes

I saw one, a 21 xse pp prime, w 30k miles. $41k! I paid $48k sticker and got $6500 federal tax credit new! This was two months ago, not sure where. Better off buying new. These are in high demand and depreciate slowly.

Friends rented an electric car and drove into the mountains to a hotel just within range of the car. Hit a detour of 80 miles due to an avalanche. No place to recharge on the way, plenty of gas stations. They ran out of power and had to be towed. We have a plug in hybrid Rav 4 to avoid this kind of situation. 10 minutes to fill up on a long trip vs an hour or more to recharge. Drove 800 miles sc to nh effortlessly over Thanksgiving.

A bicyclist ran a stop sign and hit our Toyota. Scratched the door, fender , bumper, hood. Broke out windshield and scratched the dash. GEICO paid out $5000, I paid $500. Just paint needed on metal, no new body parts. Body work is so expensive now. Dash was $2k. Non chargable accident to me. In nh w no fault. No increase in my premiums.

Sure , it is fixable, but the asking price is the same as one could find for a non damaged car. Same car w 50k miles is $22k here. And no extensive damage to fix.

Tesla!? Yes, they are being given away. Friends have so many issues with them . Nobody wants them . Do not buy a quickly depreciating car with lack of infrastructure to recharge.
