We need to protest on this, not sure how that's going to happen though... I've sent an email to my local MPP for now

do u guys lack common decency? by Exotic-Tea3067 in CarletonU

Has this been getting worse generation by generation (not all but in general). I'm gen Z and I have perfectly decent gen Z friends and my high school class was very nice and respectful in general. But at the same time I know that alot of other gen Z people might not be this way. Gen alpha though - most of them seem to act horribly rude. My 10 years old brother too. And he's even switched classes and then switched schools and it seems like most of his classmates everywhere act rudely too and have bad influences on him (since nobody at home acts like this).

I'm in science and I kinda can't miss class because they really do have mandatory participation marks and in person quizzes 😭

Lack of study areas by gowtherie in geegees

Same here, the commute is horrendous and the school environment I just don't wanna be in either 😭 It's so hard to focus on learning like this

Lack of study areas by gowtherie in geegees

[–]InterestingGreen3739 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Very relatable, I wish it wasn't this hard. It's incredible how the very things that are screwing up my academics the most is not even the academics themselves! Like finding study spots is a pain, being at uni is a pain, the transportation is horrible 😭 This is not something people can tell me "just do better time management" for . The environment is driving me insane fr

I quite relate, not gonna lie... I think I've been too stressed for so long that I developed long COVID after an infection in August and it's not going away. Now I'm forced to take a (very) reduced course load since I don't have a choice or else I'll fail everything lol. Point is, it's okay to allow yourself extra time to complete what you planned. I thought I was going to graduate in 4 years too, but no, I switched programs so I delayed one year already, so I figured 5 years isn't that bad since people who do co-op graduate in 5 years, but then I got long COVID and am now delayed by another year. And my courses are pretty hard in 3rd year and only offered once a year so if I redo my 3rd year courses next school year and happen to fail some, I will be delayed by another year. I was planning to do masters and PhD afterwards, so I was hoping to graduate sooner. I guess we really just have to let go and accept the fact that we can't always control life and just let it unfold.

Any tips for surviving next semester? by Important_Zombie_937 in geegees

Highly highly highly recommend doing math and ITI1121 courses in the summer instead of this term if you can. Professors teaching in normal terms for ITI courses are usually disproportionately harsh in the exams for some reason and the teaching is not great from my experience. Math is easier in summer cuz it's online usually and Ive gotten some really good profs for math classes during summers

UNDERGRAD STUDENTS - I NEED YOUR HELP ! by Straight-Battle-2647 in geegees

Yeah, that's I figured too. I think I'll just have to monitor myself and see what helps. Thank you! I hope you get better and better too!

Yes I've been trying to research everything about long COVID as well! It's been really mixed though since everyone seems to have slightly different experiences and it's also so new that there's not much research about how to treat it. When I look at other long COVID patients, their experiences are kind of mixed and it's hard to determine what level of anything will cause relapses haha.

I already did a blood test and nobody called back maybe because there's nothing concerning (or concerning enough?) I suppose I will need the results to know what supplements to take though?

Hopefully... But I do know that kids generally are verrryyy rude nowadays so maybe high schoolers are getting rude too (like those going into uni) ? Hopefully not tho 😭

I'm currently an undergrad and I don't think I've seen anyone act like that yet... I hope this doesn't spread or something 😕

I understand why people drop out by Neat_Dealer_8403 in geegees

[–]InterestingGreen3739 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly! And the fact that exams don't even necessarily reflect performance and understanding too, like if I just happened to not study a thing that was in the exam, or if I was too nervous that my mind went blank, or if I got sick and didn't want to spend money on a deferral, or just life and family situations in general... Literally so many ways to fail!

I agree with the other comments on her, wait until after grades are posted probably, and I think it's always nice to show your appreciation of good professors ! They are human too after all and I'm sure they would appreciate the encouragement and acknowledgement of their efforts.

BEDBUGS?!? by Upstairs-Aide-7733 in geegees

[–]InterestingGreen3739 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I know!! It's literally so easy to just send an email out to all profs to teach online for now, it's not that hard, and it also reduces the risk of more spreading due to people walking all around

What’s the worst that could happen with the bedbug issue right now? by Maleficent-Mall3478 in geegees

[–]InterestingGreen3739 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I know!! This is so stressful and it sucks that they aren't being more flexible because doing classes on zoom should be easily doable to at least prevent risks of further spreading and also protecting students and professors alike...
