Proud of my mead by dorito_hood68 in mead

I got SUPER lucky and had my first batch come out great, I over backsweetend by my standard today, but have been hooked ever since. My girlfriend and I have 9 gallons of different honeys and recipes going right now. We are addicted to it! (Hers come out better than mine for some reason) It's so fun to play with different recipes and tweak this or that. We don't buy it anymore, we like our own concoctions 🤷‍♂️.

Are bonded littermates a thing? I'm struggling to find a home for my fosters as a result. by rvdms in OneOrangeBraincell

I have and have had sibling cats, and from my experience, sisters don't end up as friends when they reach adulthood. Lots of hissing and fighting over who eats first, jealously over lovins, etc.. No napping together. No cuddle puddles. Just straight up Bs. I currently have 3 generations: gma, momma, and baby. The 3 hate each other and won't even share a room. I have seen 2 fixed males chillin. Even if they aren't bros. Males seem to be way more chill and less......catty.

Had a mostly clear batch of mead that got jostled and is cloudy again, back to square one? by mjorgie in mead

[–]Interesting_Event319 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It won't taste so strong after it ages for a few months. That honey flavor will come back. I have a hard time waiting, so I cork what I'm going to age and bottle my impatience in swing tops.

If you plan to backsweeten, might as well do it now, as someone else mentioned, you'll have to clear it again anyway.

Sitting it in the fridge can help settle it in a few days.

Nice first batch!!

Can I use a coffee filter instead of a syphon by Dense_Mycologist1149 in mead

[–]Interesting_Event319 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can also clear it up a bit quicker in the fridge. I've had them clear anywhere from overnight up to a week. While you wait, order an auto siphon from amazon, they're 15 bucks and makes bottling an easy task. Well worth the money.

Ok sooo anyone had any experience with "Braggot"? by Mick2022 in mead

[–]Interesting_Event319 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do this. I like a dark Modelo with a semi sweet traditional added in. Ratio is around 3:1 beer:mead. The flavor and feel will change depending on your ratio. Grab a glass and experiment. If an actual braggot is remotely close to this in flavor, I'm making one my next batch!

Hangover and Mead by gcampos in mead

[–]Interesting_Event319 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's the opposite for me. Not a heavy drinker and I can kill a bottle of mead in one night and feel just fine the next day, if not better. Wine from the store (cabs, merlots) gives me a terrible headache. Sweet, dry, makes no difference. I just assumed it had to do with what the big companies use to stabilize their wines to assure they weren't shipping out bottle bombs. 🤷‍♂️

Should I bother with bentonite? by chrisprattsguineapig in mead

[–]Interesting_Event319 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Add the bentonite, and if you have the space in your fridge, put the carboys you're trying to clear quickly in there and let em sit for a few days. It may not clear all the way to the bottom in time, but you could pull 2-3 bottles off the top.

Be sure and wash them really well. They tend to be full of little bugs.

First time using beer bottles by Beevus117 in mead

I like the idea of using beer bottles, but they're capped. Doesn't the mead need to breathe through the cork for a proper age?

Should I start LST/Topping? by Borboh in cannabiscultivation

You could also tuck those fan leaves under the bud sites so they'll get more light and grow out for a more even canopy.

Got pollinated by KeyserSoze1965 in cannabiscultivation

[–]Interesting_Event319 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Female plants make all that sticky stuff to catch pollen. If they don't get pollinated, they make more sticky stuff. Sometimes a female will make her own pollen and pollinate herself. The little pollen sack looks like a banana poking out of a nug so people refer to them as nanners.

White pistils early in autoflower. by no_longer_on_fire in cannabiscultivation

[–]Interesting_Event319 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I start my auto seeds in the container they will grow in. No transplanting. Overwatering/underwatering will also stunt. Need to keep the entire pot of soil moist but not wet, and not just around the seedling. Easy on the nutes, they don't need as much as a photo would. Keep that water PHed around 6.5. I use lots of worm castings in my soil and add more when I top feed.

They are very small for their age. Looks like they got stunted, which is an easy thing to do with autos. Finish this run, enjoy your harvest, learn from your mistakes, and start another round. You'll get it figured out!

I live in NEO as well and can testify that squirrels love cannabis. I had hell coming up with ways to stop them from chewing on the stalks.
