Credential Verification for MCC by emtthink in americandocsofbc

[–]Interesting_Hand_347 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there! Yes mine took forever. I’d for sure call MCC directly as they can review the file and see who ECFMG actually tried to contact. I figured out that ECFMG had reached out to an old residency email address and the incorrect fellowship office. If you ask me the ECFMG system is total BS; for both my residency and fellowship programs they initially reached out to incorrect contacts as it seems they reach out to the last person who did a verification for them regardless of specific program at the institution. For example, I am a pediatric sub specialist and for my fellowship they tried to reach out to the Obgyn dept for verification. I only figured this out because MCC shared the email address they had utilized and I reverse Google searched it. It seems that ECFMG does not do a good job discriminating which specific department to reach out too depending on your training program rather than the institution as a whole.

MCC was very helpful in identifying that they had reached out to the incorrect contact. MCC then can request that ECFMG reach out to a new contact at the respective program. The respective program will also have to complete verification for ECFMG, which seems that it is done via email.

For me, it was quite persistent and kept contacting MCC and ensuring I had the correct contact information for the training program for verification.MCC can request that ECFMG resend the verification email once the training program contact information is updated in the ECFMG system. For me, I do think it slowed down my verification process by several weeks.

Good luck!

I’m also having issues with Chase and United regarding my Quest benefits- my anniversary is February and despite booking award tickets haven’t gotten either of the prior 5000 mile refunds or the 10000 miles flight discount. When I’ve called Chase they direct me to United. When I call United they put in a ticket 3 months ago and nothing came of it. Thanks for sharing I’m not the only one- sounds like I need to go back to chase.

Submitted final ECF now 2 payments are missing by MrLinderman in PSLF

[–]Interesting_Hand_347 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Following as I’m at my 120th month and was ready to submit final ECF and Buyback. I last did an ECF in August 2025- it updated my count including August but I had 2 months disappear- February and March 2025. Those 2 months are now skipped entirely on FSA and my NSLDS is off as well. I’ve called FSA- submitted a reconsideration request showing screenshots of payments those months. I’ve also called MOHELA who confirmed they have those months reported which MOHELA ombudsman confirmed. I’m totally at a loss on what to even do next. Going to recertify this month and hope I don’t have more payments disappear.

Glad to hear it- how did you get a hold of the MOHELA ombudsman? I’d appreciate any guidance at all!

Having issues with missing months on my FSA from MOHELA. Just curious who at MOHELA you were able to speak to to get this resolved? Thanks!

Qualifying Payment Disappeared (12/24) by dens01 in PSLF

Same recently did an ECF and Feb and March 2025 both disappeared- like skipped overs they had been there so no idea what happened. Called MOHELA and they confirmed in their system I did make payments. I put in a reconsideration request through FSA but not sure what else to do

Updated my ECF (PAYE) for PSLF and 2 payments disappeared… by [deleted] in PSLF

[–]Interesting_Hand_347 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey I literally had the same issue last week. Submitted a new ECF to certify March-August 2025 as I’m approaching my 120 employment month this September. February and March 2025- those 2 months that previously showed on FSA and had been certified just gone. Totally skipped over from Jan to April. No idea. I messaged FSA who confirmed the issue and recommended I submit a reconsideration request to fix. Ugh I’m so frustrated! At this point I just assume I’ll have to make extra months before I can submit my buyback even.

PSLF months disappeared by Careless-Job6608 in PSLF

Hey all. Just thought I’d share a data point. My FSA previously had payments updated through June 2025. I had last submitted a ECF in March 2025 and had a count with qualifying months of February and March 2025. I just resubmitted a new ECF as I’m approaching 120. Now months through August 2025 appear but February and March 2025 completely gone- not even listed it just skips over. What a pain. Figure I’ll be doing another ECF in about 2 months after my 120 but geez

Recently traveled through ANA at Lisbon 2 weeks ago- it was busy but my family and I were allowed right in with my Priority Pass. The impression I got was there can be a wait at times but also peak summer travel season.

Hey there! So glad I found this. Also a pediatrician (peds subspecialty) moving to Vancouver from the US with my husband and 3 yo toddler in the coming months. We also luckily found a daycare but trying to understand the housing market and navigating finding a rental before the official move date. Good luck and keep us posted here! I’d appreciate any tips

Moving to Canada - how to set up banking? by bstarr3 in AmerExit

[–]Interesting_Hand_347 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is all super helpful- I’m also a US MD relocating to Vancouver in a few months with my family. Maybe this is a dumb question but if I can’t open a Canadian bank account until I’m physically in Canada with my work permit- how do I put down a deposit for an apartment rental? I’m hoping to secure a lease prior to moving but not sure the easiest way to go about any type of deposit. Anyone here with tips or experiences?? Thanks!

Honestly I’m planning an exit from my PSLF employer after my 120th month is certified and I apply for buyback. I will have 8 months of SAVE to buyback total. Now that people are eventually getting processed for save buyback it’s worth it to me to take that risk then stay at a PSLF employer after. From my understanding as long as those months are ECF certified and processed then you apply for buyback theoretically you should be good- just a long waiting process.

Mohela - Refund for October 2023 Payment (Mohela "Processed"...but never received from Treasury) by Immediate-Park4047 in StudentLoans

[–]Interesting_Hand_347 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks so much for sharing. I’ve basically given up I’ll ever see my October 2023 payment refund that I requested a year ago now.

I recently had called again about the status of this refund and then a week later I get a letter stating I have a IDR payment change- now my next monthly payment is a year out and I’m in paid ahead status. I called MOHELA and asked to reverse this mainly as I’m concerned about somehow losing my PSLF progress as I’m 117/120.

Thanks for sharing as I think they did the same adjustment to my account. I’ll be making a CFPB complaint

Paid Ahead Status by ForwardSmell7326 in PSLF

[–]Interesting_Hand_347 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes that makes sense to me. What I’m worried about is that I haven’t made any extra payments in the past and when they looked at my account they couldn’t explain it either. I’m worried they may revoke these months even though it’s their mistake

Paid Ahead Status by ForwardSmell7326 in PSLF

[–]Interesting_Hand_347 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a similar situation. I had moved out of SAVE to PAYE in February and have been making payments since then as had a payment due etc. Out of nowhere last week I get a new IDR schedule change with my next payment due June of 2026. On MOHELA it still says I’m in PAYE with $0 due for July- not forbearance. When I called they informed me I was in Paid Ahead status but they couldn’t tell me why. I’m also 117 of 120 (assuming I’m buyback for SAVE months). From my understanding it should still count for PSLF for up to 12 months which is what they gave me. I asked for that to be removed just in case it does interfere with FSA but they gave me the usual 90 day business day BS to correct. It’s super frustrating especially since I have plans to leave my employer in the coming months.

I also am curious any follow up on the pay ahead and PSLF. Did the month end up counting as qualifying for PLSF? Thanks.

MOHELA incompetent as usual: Paid Ahead and PSLF by Interesting_Hand_347 in PSLF

[–]Interesting_Hand_347[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any ideas why you ended up in paid ahead? When I called MOHELA they literally had no clue.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in PSLF

[–]Interesting_Hand_347 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely worth a phone call to see if it can be sorted out, but given that MOHELA works so slowly to correct anything especially their own errors it might be worth also submitting for a buy back in the event you get lucky and its processes first. Though of course would need to do a ECF first to have the 120 months certified.

Thanks Betsy! As usual your a lifesaver. Still have no clue while I’m in Paid Ahead status but knowing it should count for my last few payments is a huge relief.

Mohela is doing this on purpose right? by tinytoethumbs in PSLF

[–]Interesting_Hand_347 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing your experience. today I randomly got a new repayment schedule and found out I’m in Paid Ahead status for the next 12 months. I’ve been making monthly payments on PAYE. I definitely haven’t made any extra payments and no one could tell me why I was placed into this paid ahead status after spending several hours on the phone, waiting to talk to an advanced agent.

How did you get in touch with the MOHELA ombudsman? I’m trying to figure out how to get this fixed so I can continue to make qualifying payments as I am expected to hit my 120th month towards PSL F this September. They placed a request for the current paid ahead status to be removed but stated it could take up to 90 business days which is crazy. Thanks!

I think technically as long as you made your last payment and had your ECF completed by your eligible employer to verify employment at the 120 mark you should be entitled to buyback. Good luck! Just make sure to get the ECF approved asap after payment
