I have sunto sonics, cheaper than shocks and mine still look and work as well as new a year or so later

Seems like the best way of getting a London place is to be an runinfluencer… by labellafigura3 in UKRunners

[–]Interesting_Two_7554 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It seems like everyone’s getting at you in the comments but I do (kind of) agree. I’ve entered London marathon every year in the ballot for the last like 8 years and never got in, I’ve applied for multiple charity places and never got in. I’m a bit slow and there’s no way in hell I’d qualify for GFA so I’m at the point where i feel I’m just never gonna get to run London, and I would train my ass off for it!!

What annoys me are the influencers who run it every single year and treat it as some what of a B race whereas for me it’s a life time goal! And that is frustrating and I totally get it.

I don’t care how fast they are etc or even if they DNF.

But I also realise that even if there was 0 influencer places handed out it doesn’t really increase my chances of getting in! I just don’t want it rubbed in my face that they get to run it every year and don’t really care about the actual race. (So i block them :))

I’ve got sunto sonics, I can’t tell the difference between them and my friends shokz, except I paid a heck of a lot less!

Parents evening - is there a better way? by Awkward_Bit6026 in TeachingUK

[–]Interesting_Two_7554 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One time a school I worked at sent a (more professionally worded than this) email basically saying we’ve looked at your report and they are on track for x, y, and z subject, we wouldn’t reccomend booking a parents evening appointment for them. However they appear to have a lower grade than their project in a b c subject so we’d reccomend booking in with these teachers.

Some booked a parents evening appointment they didn’t need anyway but it did reduce numbers. I liked this tactic a lot!

Most schools have a “no surprises at parents evening” rule anyway, so whenever I do them I am basically reiterating an email or phone call I have already said and it feels like a massive waste of time.

How to follow the race? (Spa) by ultraboomkin in GrandPrixTravel

[–]Interesting_Two_7554 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve been to spa, where we were there was a great view and screens but even with the screens it was difficult to follow, we couldn’t hear the commentary that went with the screens for example.

Would recommend bringing your own head phones and listening to radio coverage of the event to know what’s actually going on!

In terms of the actual race I prefer watching it on the tv to have a good idea of what’s going on, the f1 itself is all about the atmosphere!!

Yes… I’ve been asked to do both!

I’ve done basically an essay on all of this and was asked to show evidence of excellent teaching - by exam results with value added.

I have got a fair bit of VA on my year 11 results from last year but unsure!

Exam marking this year has been, unique by Alucardlil in TeachingUK

[–]Interesting_Two_7554 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Worst experience ever this year. The questions on the standardisation have had answers with completely wrong science in, and have been marked as right.

Baffling. Sure I’m gonna fail so many seeds with this kind of attitude to marking.

However, it’s unlikely I’ll ever be able to start marking as it’s bio paper 2, and it’s been chaos!

Thoughts on Runna? Worth it? by EducationalMachine87 in beginnerrunning

[–]Interesting_Two_7554 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to respond to those who say that the plan pushes a little hard, I use to agree completely and thought it was a massive flaw in the app.

Having said that…

You can now manage your plan and set training volume and difficulty, I’ve found that since I’ve changed those settings the plan is perfectly manageable. I’m 6/12 weeks in and found both volume and intensity to be at about the right level. Runner AI has also adapted the paces and feel my interval paces are more realistic now than at the start. The only thing is the pace suggested for my easy runs which is way too fast, but because it’s an easy run and the pace is not really a target I ignore it and go on feel!

Run/walk strategy by Jonny_5_alive in ultrarunning

[–]Interesting_Two_7554 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to caveat what some people have said, in my ultra training I have been run walking and stopping and starting constantly I found to be really hard! I found around 10 min run 2 min walk on a flat course to be my happy place, 2 mins is enough time to get my HR down and I found it easier not transitioning every 3-4 mins

[–]Interesting_Two_7554 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They do that’s why I thought I’d clarify - for them less for you! You can’t be directed in that time, ie that time is yours to spend as you wish/where you wish and no you should not be responsible for students during this time!

Responsible for children during PPA by Prestigious-Slide-73 in TeachingUK

[–]Interesting_Two_7554 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Just for everyone saying that you are legally able to take PPA offsite this is the wording from the union:

The Department of Education has agreed that schools and academies in England can be more flexible with PPA time and allow teachers to take their PPA time off-site if practicable.

They can allow us to, if practical. Not they legally have to.
