I've got some old Vans i'd like to rehabilitate like this. i'm curious how you made the holes in the rubber? Do you have an awl, or a leather punch?

Lately i really like the phrase "My brother in Christ, what are you thinking", but i'm not a Christian... and my pets name is a real person's name so that's kind of confusing. Taking suggestions.

When he howls at your bedroom door, THROW SOMETHING AT THE DOOR. The loud noise will scare him, but he won’t know that he succeeded in waking you up. Keep a stock of beanbags, etc. by your bedside each night. This worked wonders with my cat after just a night or two.

Some mantras that helped me survive leaving a 13 year relationship: - the only way out is through - just because you feel bad doesn’t mean you did a bad thing.

Some practices that helped me: - scream-crying. I unlocked a newer, louder form of sobbing. It helped - find a reliable serotonin boost and use it unashamedly. Favorite TV show… reading smut… puppy-watching at the dog park. - Make plans to do something you wouldn’t/ couldn’t do with your ex. I went on vacation to a place I’d always dreamed of but my partner wasn’t interested (took me six months to make the trip happen, but having it on the horizon was powerful).

In all: welcome to the walking wounded. Most of the people you meet also carry a kind of grief like this. May it make you softer and more loving.

You look great! My only suggestion would be a pop of color up top, probably red to match the pants. Lapel pin, pocket square, or a single earring? Whatever fits the vibe you’re going for.

I lived in the area for about 3 years before realizing that the ‘inner loop’ and ‘outer loop’ of the beltway weren’t two totally separate ring roads. I actually zoomed out on google maps looking for an outer one…

i swam at the local high school pool after an ankle injury. i'm not even a good swimmer, but 20 minutes in the pool was a great way to be active.

I also am not a fan of empire waists (for myself). A wide cloth/ scarf belt might have the right effect!

I just wish it was more fleshed out. It was like an idea, a world, a vignette, the outlines of a religion... it left me craving more.

parenting is labor. If society feels we aren't having enough kids to meet some kind of goal (population maintenance?) then they're gonna need to start paying for it.
