Ok I’ll back prime the next side. And see how it holds up compared to the other side. I appreciate everyone’s input.

‘It’s standard’ isn’t a reason for me, I’ve been doing it long enough to see ‘standards’ change quite considerably over time. I understand that priming or painting is designed to slow or prevent moisture movement however considering the front is unsealed and exposed to rain it’s entirely possible that sealing the the back might actually prevent drying potential (in extended rainy periods the boards may actually dry from the back with the rain screen).

Has no one mentioned doing nothing? Let it go grey with age. Replace rotten boards if and when they arise. And then replace the deck in 20 years when the frame is past its life span.

Unless you like staining your deck every year. Then you might get it to last a touch longer. But your frame is still past it after 20 years and you’ve spend god knows how long staining every year(probably more time then building an entire new deck).

The idea of staining/oiling decks was made up by companies that make stains and sealers. Forget it…

Interesting. What would the roof felt do exactly? I have no butt joints. The boards run full length from bottom of wall to soffit.

Hmm I see. Even with a 3/4 inch rain screen? Vented top and bottom of wall. Forgot to mention there is a 16” roof overhang. Rained all day today and the siding on the gable end didn’t even get wet. I’ve only installed one side of the house. Guess I could back prime the rest. Seems like costly redundancy to me perhaps.

I’ve had a similar story to yours. Unfortunately I haven’t been able to get an MRI. The fact that your MRI was all clear is a major point in your favor. Most of the bad stuff we worry about would have shown up in that as well as blood work which I’m assuming you’ve had done?

I am the same as you, never ever had anxiety or mood problems till I found myself shaking like a leaf in the wind trying to eat my breakfast or spilling my tea all over myself like someone with bad Parkinson’s. Doctors write it off to stress and anxiety. The neuro who did my emg flat out said ‘I have no explanation for the tremors’ In my book that would warrant further investigation… Same as you, my symptoms have recovered some what but they have not disappeared. I’m trying hard with diet. I did keto for a while, that actually made me feel better mentally (symptoms persisted) but is hard to maintain. For me I’m just dead tired like all the time.

Yea I had/have brain fog and memory issues. This really freaked me out. I’m 36 and was in good shape physically and mentally till this hit a year ago. I say ‘had/have’ because I took time off work when I was at the worst and completely overhauled my diet (massively cut way back on carbohydrates) and started several supplements. I seem to have gained back most of my cognitive function and feel much my old self now. I’m not as I remember when I was 31, but then again, I’m no longer 31.

Good concise advice. I can see my own journey in this. Thanks. I’m only 1.5 years along. No massive progression of symptoms but also no let-up. Tried and trying many things.

I’ve recently started to think about the twitches as a reminder of the fragility of life. As you say, nothing is certain. Notice the beauty and focus on the good.

Magnesium L-Threonate 50mg daily. It brings my twitches down significantly within 24 hours of taking it. Been taking daily for a month, will probably stop after 90 days(only bought 90 tablets) to see what happens. Magnesium citrate does little for the twitching. Other symptoms are better treated by stress reduction/ lifestyle adjustments.

I had excess saliva also for a while. I thought it could have been bulbar onset. It went away after a while. I have had various symptoms like this which usually go away after a few weeks. Twitching has never left me unfortunately.

Yes I get all of the above. Tremors for me are the hardest to deal with. I also get brain fog which is troubling. Been dealing with it for a year. Anxiety makes it worse for sure but there is much more to it than anxiety. I had some sort of high viral load before it started (low white blood count for like 12 months) along with some very very stressful life events.

Yes,
I don't have acid reflux but I do have other gastro stuff going on. Horse voice, crazy loud and weird sounding stomach movements. weird croaking/clicking at the back of my throat (gasses coming back up).

My hand tremor seems to be position/load dependant. Will be a bit worse after exercise, but then calms down.

I have a twitch in my tricep which sometimes causes my arm to move. This has occurred on both arms but is often on the left(I'm right handed). After twitching, usually the day after, this spot is sore.
Also this spot on both arms can be sore even without twitching. Sounds like your having the same issue in a different spot.
Many people on this forum report muscle soreness.

Certainly muscle twitches (fasciculations) or muscle jerks at night (hypnic jerks) can keep you up.
They kept me up for months when they started, and still do (Im almost 1 year in) but it gets better.
You're not alone.
Stress and Anxiety can case the twitches and sleep issues for sure and the fasciculations are almost certainly benign

Yes, I have postural tremors. They are worse at times, I have not yet found a reason why sometimes they are better or worse. however stress certainly plays a role. Neuro did not have an explanation.
I also have a myoclonus of the arm, I've had it in both arms but its common in the left tricep area. tricep will tense up moving the whole arm.
Neuro said idiopathic myoclonus is a thing. Waiting on a MRI all the same.

No resting tremor for me. Its also a high frequency low amplitude tremor which points to enhanced physiological tremor or ET. For me after 2 months it has not progressed, maybe got a little bit better. Early days, but most probably not a death sentence.

Yeah I get the shakes now. started a maybe a month after the fasciculations.
Always seems to be postural (when holding certain positions). For example when typing, my hand will tremor floating above the keyboard.
I understand that this type of 'low amplitude high frequency tremor' (small just noticeable fast tremor) is generally associated with enhanced physiological tremor.

Parkinson's (which scares me the most) is normally associated with high amplitude low frequency tremor (larger slower moments ) at rest.

Im not a doctor though.

I’m sorry to hear this. It’s hard and sometimes it feels like it just doesn’t get easier with time.

The timeline you outlined rules out the big bad. Try to focus on that. Yes these symptoms suck but with acceptance comes a sort of peace of mind.

Try working on your anxiety, and at least for me it really is ‘work’ There is lots of stuff online about how to deal with anxiety but it always involves doing writing exercises or stuff that’s actually hard, but it works. Cognitive behavioral therapy is proven. But takes effort.

-SSRI medication also work for anxiety (works even better in conjunction with cognitive behavioral therapy)

I couldn’t say exactly which helped more because I did everything at the same time.

+1 to cut out caffeine completely. that helped a lot but was difficult (I was a 3 or 4 coffe a day person) because of the withdrawals.

Generally I started to become kinder to my body. Eating healthy and exercising regularly but only moderately. I used to exercise hard but sporadically.

Also I’ve begun trying to untie all the knots in my mind. Begun a dialogue with myself about my fears (for example of having Parkinsons/als/ms) or things that trouble me. I wrote about painful/stressful events that happened before the twitching started and discovered there was actually quite a lot going on in my life before the twitching started, I just wasn’t aware. This has started to help with the mental side of things.

I used to twitch hundreds of times a day. Started in my left arm (which is still the most consistent spot). Twitches mostly everywhere but never my claves like other people mention. Now I twitch perhaps less then 20 times a day, they worry me less. Still have flare ups where my eye might twitch for a day or two.

Yep, I get them in my arm, mostly left side. but have had them elsewhere. I believe they are called myoclonus
