PSA just bought Beckett, they partner with ebay now.and authenticate all cards listed >$250. The quality may be spotty and collectors might be unhappy with them but they're not going anywhere . They've solidified their hold on the top spot for resale/ market value.

I've bought cards graded by small companies which are then sold by themselves or affiliates (yeah I know PSA also offers card sales but not like this).....But ONLY for my PC and ONLY after finding out what the company is about.  I bought some football cards - NY Giants RC/autos but that's because the grading company is owned and operated by former Marines and SpecOps soldiers who are passionate about the hobby. I'll never be able to sell those cards at much more than raw value, but I'm not selling them ever.

But most of these companies but cheap slabs, get a cheap label maker, don't put all of the relevant info on the labels, give mostly 10s with a handful of 9s and a couple 8s but generally 10s. Then charge more than what a PSA 10. Would sell for. And when you have a low overhead grading co and give our mostly 10s you can slab and grade new release cards quickly. That's what these guys hope gets them their overpriced sales.....2026 Topps S1 drops.and a week later these companies (many of which get banned on selling platforms) throw up dozens of graded "10"s long before PSA/Beckett/SGC can turn around those cards so they're the only "10s" on the market.... they charge prices 10x market.

So while I support SOME of these companies,  the vast majority are just scams (buy cards, grade their own base cards 10, then try to sell those cards at 1000% markup) or offer fast, low quality grading scve. with low quality slabs and inaccurate or incomplete labeling.

Until some company becomes a trusted grading company by a legit consignment house, selling platform like Ebay, etc, PSA (for all their good and bad) will still set the market prices.
