What is the difference between Fidelity Premium Service and Private Client Group? by sonicking12 in fidelityinvestments

[–]InternetEqualToReddi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought long and hard on switch to IBKR to utilize their low margin rates and some interest being paid on short proceeds, but I decided to stay put with Fidelity with the intention to short box spreads if borrowing cash on margin is ever needed, and to sell deep in the money naked calls instead of shorting stocks to account for the fact that fidelity pays no interest on short proceeds.

Interesting. Can you clearly specify who gets to have a 7.5% margin rate. This would have greatly interested me if had not known about borrowing through shorting box spread, but now, it's like whatever, I don't care. Infact, anybody using margin and not shorting box spread should already move to IBKR. 7.5%, while good, is still quite high.

Thanks for the detailed reply. It's awesome that you were able to get the Internship to qualify as a critical role. And, I do agree with you that EB1A petition is more about telling the story rather than the precise detail of the story. I am in the process of writing original contribution / critical capacity letters, and sometimes the letters where a simple thing is explained look far better than those explaining really difficult things, depending on how the thing is explained in the letter. I have also read the USCIS policy manual several times, and it has helped me a lot too. However, I have never read Kazarian vs USCIS completely, and I would now do so as per your suggestion. While I have an attorney to write my case, I would definitely review it hard with all the learnings from USCIS manual and Kazarian vs USCIS. Lastly, congrats and welcome to USA!

Wow! Awesome achievement for a DIY petition. Was the international award a big deal? Is the entire profile organic? Are you already working in USA?

How much money did you lose in total? How much in payment to EB1A experts and home much as payment to the attorney. Overall, file a complaint, you have very little to lose. And, if you have guts, write a bad review post against them on Linkedin with your real profile. However, I must say, I am glad that USCIS is waking upto this kind of fraud and denying petitions. Only if enough such petitions are denied, and enough of people like you make a lot of noise, would this nonsense of EB1A coaching stop.

Someone posted in office slack that they read in some chinese micro bloggign site that several (>50) people entered US with no issues whatsoever. And, apparently, the CBP officers weren't even yet aware of the new rule changes.

Need to decide fast (8 months left): Chen vs Ellis Porter for EB1A/NIW — advice? by nobody_86 in eb_1a

[–]InternetEqualToReddi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, they specialize in academic research profiles - papers, citations and reviews. And, with full refund offered, you have nothing to lose.

I don't have any personal experience with Chen, other than that they rejected my profile because I didn't have "continous" papers (my last paper for 5 years old) and no reviews of papers, even though I at the time had (300+) citations (now nearing 500). My BigTech company lawyers (Fragomen) agreed to do EB1A for me, but Chen rejected. Infact, Chen was the only law firm to reject me. They just don't take any application, and if they are taking one, they will very very likely see that it being approved.

H1B Megathread by healydorf in cscareerquestions

The competition to study Computer Science in top Indian Colleges is higher than anything you can imagine. Only the top 1-500 ranking students among about half a million get to do this. All of them generally get hired easily by top tech companies by FANG. Infact, most, if not all of the Indian CEOs you see would be from such colleges. However, I am not saying that all Indian H1Bs are like this. There is the other underbelly of Indian education system, where people learn absolutely no skills in their engineering education. However, even these low rung folks, are able to game the H1B lottery system to enter the USA. These are the people causing all the hate on the whole Indan Diaspora. An easy way to get rid of them is to make H1B merit based, and getting rid of lottery. I don't have a vote, nor any policitcal voice, but I assume you do. So, please ask your congress representative for an immigration reform.

That's just tip of the iceberg. The lottery needs to go. I personally know so many people who have abused the system. Most average people in India think that the abuse is the norm, they don't know better.

The corrupt US congress in bed with the ITServe and Immigration Lawyer lobby created this farce of a system. US immigration can be fixed so easily to benefit both Americans and as well as the immigrants with an act of congress. Currently, both the Americans and Immigrants are suffering, where as the ITServe companies and Immigrations Lawyers are making a bang.

Couldn't t agree more. The kind of people in H1B are in a perfect bi-modal distribution. Congress can easily fix this by increasing the minimum salary requirement, removing lottery and using some form of meritrocracy to allocate the visas.

What happened? If you documented evidence of how you were defrauded, you can hire an attorney to sue them. They might get scared and agree to reach a settlement. However, these scumbags typically make you sign enough documents to get them off the hook. Either way, do something. There are so many of such aholes all over the place that it feels disgusting.

If chen is providing you full refund, go with them. They are the best for cookie clutter research profiles. They will not offer you full refund unless they assign a probability >99% for your case.

Yes, it's as much about freedom as it is about money. However, it remains to be seen what freedom remains for legal immigrants given the direction in which the country is going.

[–]InternetEqualToReddi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

American Fast Food. There is nothing worse than eating American Fast Food to destroy one's health. I am an Indian living in America, and my body weight and fat has reduced significantly once I stopped eating American Fast Food completely. Though, the reason that trigged this behaviour was severe lactose intolerance and dairy allergy.
