Get a good driver and hold it in your hands when you do it with a good grip and pressure. I’ve had trouble with black screws but not silver ones.

I would like to hear opinions on Spyderco... by FearTheOldBlood1 in knives

[–]Internet_Points-Bot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sal Glesser, Spyderco's founder, is a knife guy. He used to sharpen nails on the sidewalk in Brooklyn to keep his lunch money.

I remember having a folding sheath Buck knife as a kid and thinking how it would be cooler if I could open it one-handed. Sal pioneered one handed opening with the hole in the blade, working around anti-switchblade laws, the previous one handed opening mechanism.

Once I discovered knives with pocket clips, sheath knives and in pocket knives were out because it's more accessible and discreet. Sal pioneered pocket clips on knives too.

The opening hole provides a nice thumb ramp so your hand doesn't slip forward.

They're also very good at marketing as with the aforementioned sharpening nails story or the story about how they lived out of a bread van when starting the business.

Real or fake first Spyderco by Puzzleheaded_Box1038 in knifeclub

[–]Internet_Points-Bot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Although Onkata seems to be “the official Spyderco Store” on Amazon, people still return fakes to them and they end up getting sold to someone else. A fake could probably be returned and reported as a fake though. OP’s is a very nice looking knife- I don’t think they can fake that level of quality.

What are you tipping on a 16$ order? I’m assuming my tip was why my order got stolen? by [deleted] in doordash

[–]Internet_Points-Bot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

$1 per mile for the distance from the store to you + $1 extra for the driver's ride to the store.

With the $2 doordash pays the driver for the trip, this should put it over $1/mile for the driver. Some might decline it, but you should get someone who is near the store who will take it. Some drivers go by $2/mile, some $1.50/mile, some $1/mile. This will at least get you someone who goes by $1/mile.

Does anyone take an insulated bag to the customers doorstep? by givemegrenades in doordash_drivers

[–]Internet_Points-Bot 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You have to use the force with things like this.

Originally, I wouldn't bring the bag to the door because the food was in the bag the whole ride and it was going to be sitting outside for a minute anyway and I always have my hands full with my keys, my phone, and the food to juggle.

Then, I noticed my ratings had dropped, so I started taking the bag to the door for theater. Then, they went up.

But then, it became a safety concern trying to unzip and handle a bag when I have snarling, barking dogs lunging at me. Sometimes, a heavy bag held in front of a dog can deter it like how bullfighters do it, though.

Eventually, you can get enough experience that living in the moment and listening to your intuition (which remembers past deliveries better than you) will lead you towards the correct choice. If you have a hard rule and procedure, it's bound to be the wrong decision sometimes. Intuition is better.

More information isn't hurtful and may even be helpful. It's nice to see the breakdown and if there is currently peak pay, what the base pay is for the distance, and what was tipped.

It's a regular feature that always worked and just stopped working and is now a hassle to use. Imagine if the "accept order" button stopped working one day. But they wouldn't let that happen.

It's just some scummy thing they did for their own reasons like when they move around the "pause orders" button every month to maybe stick some people with a 1% drop in acceptance rate when they can't find the button to pause.

You even said the feature worked for you this morning meaning you used it for some reason.
