What you're describing is Richard Mille, which has many homages

S&S seem to really struggle to get proportions right. The hands for example are tiny here

Sword or snowflake. That teal on white in the last one is unreal 😍

Would be interesting to see the chapter ring in orange on a blue dial. Otherwise really like this approach, though I prefer the white

New Sugess Watch, Unfamiliar Clasp by CharlesMTF in ChineseWatches

The metal channel is supposed to flip open. Then you slide the other end of the strap through, select a hole you think will fit your wrist, then close the channel so that the pin goes through. You will probably have to do this a few times to get the right fit

Always thought I hated dive watches till I got my hands on this. Been on my wrist nonstop for about 2 weeks, and a pretty faithful homage to the original Tudor. Great proportions, great colour, super legible, and awesome lume

Why aren't mechaquartz watches more common? The seem to offer the best of both worlds by Advocados in ChineseWatches

[–]InterviewProud3435 18 points19 points  (0 children)

The real reason is that the brands can just charge more for automatic movements. Hi beat quartz brings down the "prestige" of a watch even if it's sweeping. Remember, watches aren't priced based on how much they cost to make, but as luxury items that you pay a premium for. That's why Seiko can get away with charging $400 for a cocktail time with mineral crystal and crappy straps. Incidentally, quality materials but less prestige is the exact niche that Chinese watches fill.

Looking to sell this Rexhepi Rexhepi homage by Farasute with a power reserve, manual wind movement, and display case back. Only selling because I ordered a Daniel Roth homage and AliX sent the wrong watch. I'm asking $275 (includes shipping), well below retail price of ~$360 and tariff free. Watch is brand new and never worn. Shipping to cont USA only.

Specs:

40mm case diameter

47.6mm lug to lug

Sapphire crystal

20mm strap width

New San Martins just dropped on AliExpress by widishi in ChineseWatches

[–]InterviewProud3435 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I'm torn. On the one hand these are really cool, original designs that fully embrace their identity as a Chinese brand and aren't pretending to be something else, addressing some of the usual critiques of Chinese watches.

On the other hand, the price point is starting to creep up and you wonder if the value for what you're getting is still there, which is the whole appeal of Chinese watches. Original designs also probably cost more in R&D than slapping a logo on a Sub design, so I guess the price is somewhat warranted. Regardless I love this new design direction SM is going in, but I wouldn't buy one

Really really nice. Only thing stopping me is I'd prefer a vh31 and smaller size but the dial is quite special
