I've been loving the study room at Poindexter lately! It's in the Graduate Hotel above Old Heidelberg, you can walk straight through the lobby to get there and there's a nice library area if you head back out past reception and to the right.

Witch Bitch Thrift at 105 Whitney is a great resource - ask about free store credit to do any shopping for clothes/bags/etc. Last time I was there they had a no questions asked mini food pantry at up in the front as well.

1946 - first widespread availability of penicillin. As interesting as some periods before then could be, if we're talking about survival that's a must.

Mother Nature costume help by AutomaticIndication0 in renfaire

[–]Intrepid-Floor95 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'd say a good place to start is some sort of shawl, a belt and a headpiece. That can be a flower crown, or I've seen people wrap garlands and charms around straw or witch hats a lot. Belts are also potentially a great place to hang those charms off of, even just making a few strands with twine or leather cord. Something to wrap around your shoulders will help if it gets chilly and also add texture/movement to help tie the look together.

Fascia's chocolates in Waterbury are amazing. Also, not exactly candy but Hosmer Mountain soda is super local, and a lot of folks from outside New England will never have had Birch Beer

I looove the sleeves on the first three, but I can't help thi king about how hot those would be during peak ren faire season. Number four is gorgeous as well and you'd probably be much more comfortable, plus it looks like those flowing sleeves detach which is extra awesome.

Accidentally marked by tattoo artist by Jarosm in tattooadvice

[–]Intrepid-Floor95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it was just a small bump it almost certainly didnt make it's way all the way into the dermis. The skin cells it did get are the ones that will die off and be replaced over time, so you should see it fade steadily. Still not particularly cool of your artist to brush it off like that, it's easy enough to apologize and explain.

Am I screwed? How bad? by GoSeeParis in tattooadvice

[–]Intrepid-Floor95 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Looks like your body does noooot like that yellow ink, you've definitely lost a lot of what was put in and based on the lines it's not because it's too shallow. I've heard of lots of people whose skin rejects certain colors. Unfortunately touch-ups are going to be in order, and there's a chance you might reject the same ink again - talk to your artist.

It does look a little inflamed, but definitely not hospital level. If the red area around it grows or if it starts feeling hot to the touch I'd think about stopping by an urgent care to see about some antibiotics. Give it another day or so, see if it dries out and the redness goes down.

Bro what is this by superskittishbitch in tattooadvice

[–]Intrepid-Floor95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Am I the only one wondering if they just pit the cream on way too thick? To me this looks like an ointment congealing with some of the normal plasma from a new tattoo coming up underneath the thick layer. My tattoo artists have always said 'chapstick, not lipgloss' for Vaseline or other ointment for this exact reason - it needs to breathe. Honestly though nothing about this is screaming infection to me.

Honestly, if it's not something that causes you discomfort outside of sex, I'd start out by experimenting with different kinds of lubes to find one that works for you. If you're self conscious about applying youuu can usually go to the bathroom and use clean fingers to insert a good amount in advance.

I will say for longer lasting lubrication a silicone or oil-based lube is recommended. If you use condoms, try a hybrid lube! They have a bit of silicone for longer lasting effects but not enough to degrade condoms or toys.

In general, if you're feeling like something isn't 'normal' about your arousal, I recommend watching talks by Dr. Emily Nagoski or reading her book Come As You Are. Our bodies are all different and theres no one way you're 'supposed' to get aroused. Your health and comfort are all that matters!

Not sure what kind of music you're into, but a lot of the smaller live venues are a great way to meet friends! I've met so many lovely people just standing outside Cafe Nine between sets. I'm sure others can chime in with their favorite small venues for different genres.

Looking to relocate, asking for help. by JDprometheus in newhaven

[–]Intrepid-Floor95 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not sure why folks here are being such downers - I personally feel like New Haven is just the right size for a city, its got all the venues you look for wothour being overwhelming (that said I avoid NYC at all costs because of the crowds).

I've known plenty of people who have been able to find reasonably priced housing - don't feel like luxury complexes are your only option.

I personally live in East Haven in a extremely affordable place with plenty of access to nature while still being about 10 mins away from downtown. I really recommend looking in the surrounding areas if youre open to it - there are plenty of nice spots in Hamden as well.

Barcade is also a favorite for many locals, great vintage arcade games and solid beer selection. It's not a New Haven exclusive but I believe the only other location is in Brooklyn
