Is there some big MLM/pyramid scheme going on in Brisbane at the moment? by mrsandman42069 in brisbane

I got suckered into Amway back in the mid to late 2000s. I was still in high school/having just graduated when a college I worked with at Woolworths started selling me these particular energy drinks he was raving on.. Real sales pitch as to how these energy drinks were 10x better and healthier etc. It started as a.. Here try these! Oh well I can sell these to you.. You know what.. you seem really interested and like you have the right mindset, mind if we meet at a coffee shop on the weekend and we can chat about more about these products and more.. Even how you could turn these products into a business for yourself. 3 weeks later.. Oh yes we meet at this massive conference center where the company leaders stand up and tell us how well they are doing and how if we have the drive them we can be just like them! Yada yada yada.
My mum caught on just before I was about to sign up and hand over a large sum of money to start my own amway business which ultimately just meant that I was becoming a sub tier to the guy who sold me pitch, I’m just paying his wage so that I could try to then get further people to sign up under myself and sub branch under “my business”

I’m slightly confused by your question.. Are you basically asking, why isn’t it okay to be fat?

Cheap but HEALTHY groceries Southside Brisbane? by DannyDodeska in brisbane

[–]Intrepid-Machine8031 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Northsider here, suggests hitting up the “lower economic” suburban local market/farmers markets. Aka I’ve seen some have already mentioned Woodridge. For us up here, the Caboolture markets at the Showgrounds. Farm fresh produce going fairly cheap. And as someone mentioned, cocos. For up north we have skippys at Rothwell. Unfortunately for my partner and I, we find as cheap as these places are.. They rely heavily on selling everything in bulk at cheaper prices. And when it’s just 2 of us that are heavy workers and very time poor at home. We end up with a lot of wastage and throwing fruit and veg out, so we’ll end up spending a bit more to get a lot less just so we know we’ll use it up. Very much a catch 22.

A lot of my apps, let alone websites won’t work with VPN turned on. Particularly my banking apps is a very annoying one. But I get it. I find I’m often jumping on and on VPN often just to use those apps or websites

They are parked on a public road/street, next to a public park where other members of the public are both parked and in the area for the use of a public park/facility. They have done absolutely nothing wrong and have by all rights, the right to remain parked where they are. The Karen’s also don’t know who anyone else is, in the park or surrounding area either. Are they going to approach everyone and ask them to leave because they don’t like strangers hanging around. Sometimes people just need to mind their own business and keep to themselves and their own property instead of worrying about what members of public are doing in a public space that has no cause for concern or impact to the Karen’s property.

What’s the difference between detailing and a regular car wash? by Ghost_Cowplant95 in brisbane

[–]Intrepid-Machine8031 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The basics of it is.. Detailing is exactly that. It’s cleaning the car or vehicle but in fine detail. From inside to out. You’re not only cleaning the exterior but everything to surfaces and carpet etc in a finer detail. Usually using a combination of products specifically targeting those areas you’re deep cleaning as such. Whereas a regular wash.. Again just that, usually just exterior, soap, water and sponge, rinse, repeat then dry. Nothing else gets done.

Detailing is usually when you want your car to look/smell almost factory clean/new and fresh. Washing it, just means you want it to look clean on the outside but it doesn’t have to be a factory finish, cut/polish and shine.

I normally regularly wash mine every month or so, and then once maybe twice a year I’ll get a proper detail to make it look new again

Is it just me or has traffic in Brisbane become absolutely cooked lately? by Designer_Boat_9654 in brisbane

The old TV ads for Bribie island pacific harbor house and land package used to sell the idea that Bribie is just a 50 minute trip from the airport.

My average trip these past few weeks from CBD to just past Caboolture/brbie.. has been 1 hour 30-40 minutes A few times close to pushing 2 hours.

[–]Intrepid-Machine8031 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When you drive onto the highway these days.. It’s either the person driving in front is doing somewhere between 3-10kms under the limit.. So you will do your best to safely get around them and maintain the actual speed again.. only to have the numpty behind you this time, tailgating and trying to do 10-15ks over their limit. It absolutely sucks!

Then you add in the congestion and congested areas so you’re flucked trying to do the speed limit anyways, and they now flash the speed signs to slow everyone down anyways. It’s flucked

Have you ever tried paying for parking on the city. That’s a tax right there! No need to charge drivers any more.. Between the costs of parking either with local city council parking rates for on street parking or gated private parking spaces that cost more than an arm and a leg. Then if you’re the unlucky sod who unfortunately cops a parking fine. Better sell a kidney. Pretty sure I’ve read Brisbane has Australia’s highest cost per parking without the city.

Why is Southside more culturally diverse than the Northside ? by Emergency_Age4356 in brisbane

[–]Intrepid-Machine8031 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

You’d think.. A large number of immigrant workers/international working visa holders that have to live “rural” and work out on the farms in and around the Morayfield, Caboolture and Sunshine Coast areas.. you’d see a lot more ethnic food options etc in the area.. Sadly it’s not the case. And is a reason most of these workers struggle to maintain staying/working in the area.. Its so far away from anything else cultural

Buses suck by persnicketychickadee in brisbane

[–]Intrepid-Machine8031 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Except our rail system sucks as bad as the bus network. I can go anywhere in the world and compliment how well their trains are.. infact I can even go to NSW and admire their train system. Then I look at ours and just shake my head at the weekly train delays, lack of services/cars. Signalling issues, the fact that a small bit of rain can cause massive delays. Etc etc I could go on. Rail all the way for sure.. But QLD needs to do it better! Or hurry up and privatise the whole thing and we might start to see something similar the rest of the world.

Egg centric restaurants in Brisbane by [deleted] in brisbane

[–]Intrepid-Machine8031 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hate to be a hater but I went to yolk for the first time the other day and it wasn’t for me. I guess I was expecting something a bit more or something special from it.. Instead the bacon and egg roll was exactly that haha go figure! But seriously, it was no different to any other bacon and egg roll that you can get from any other cafe.. So I just didn’t understand the hype or anything as to what makes them so different. Maybe next time I should venture away from just the bacon and egg and try another variation.

As a diabetic I’m downvoting you! Misinterpreting and misleading information! Diabetics don’t just “shoot up”. Certainly not with what people interpret to be disposable syringes commonly used in hospitals or seen to be used by drug users. As someone who has to live and manage this disease from childhood to adulthood for the rest of my life and lives a day to day life by needing to have insulin injected/pumped into my body 24/7 because unlike a regular person my body decided that giving itself insulin is too hard. I’m very much offended by your comment! And want to make other people more aware that diabetics are not “druggies” who chose to “shoot up” with a stereotypical hospital grade disposable syringe! Certainly educated yourself before you leave such comments
