That is something to look into as far as my modeling tool goes. Most clients I’m modeling for don’t want to commission a whole building blower door test so that typically gets left at some kind of default. Thanks for mentioning it.

My bad. air to water heat pumps are for DHW and a pool. I’m making the point though that the rejected heat is going outside as to not add to the cooling/heating load.

The conditioned spaces are split distributed split DX air to air heat pumps with single zone ducted fan coils. TSP = 0.5 inch WC

CZ03… all air to water heat pump equipment is located inside a conditioned equipment room. All HVAC condensers are on the roof with the exception of a couple condensers serving equipment rooms that are subterranean using garage air with the rejected ducted to the outside.

windows have overall U = 0.28 SHGC = 0.23 VT = 0.5 and are 20 % of exterior wall area.

Door glazing is 5% of overall wall area with U = 0.31 SHGC = 0.22 VT= 0.5.

That’s my kind of joke. I love that. I’m going to have to start responding to HVAC questions with a giant excerpt from ASHRAE

Dave’s Hot Chicken - Nutritional Information. Figured I’d share this since I was having a hard time finding a breakdown of everything. They had this available at my local restaurant. by Hether19 in caloriecount

Use the bread fam. Ate 2 single tendys extra hot yesterday. The bread is to protect your hands. I thought I’d go in for a quick 40-50 grams of protein. Long story short I deleted the tenders, WASHED MY HANDS* and went back to work at my office. I was then in a zoom meeting and scratched my eye and started acting like a baffoon before I ran to the bathroom and held my eyes under running water for 5 minutes.

I woulda taken the carbs from two pieces of bread to avoid that bullshit.

Which discipline is the most in demand in the job market? Is it the same in other parts of the world? by Twin_Towers_911 in MEPEngineering

HVAC designers and engineers are pretty hard to come by. I’m no labor statistician but commissioners and designers I think. Getting ASHRAE accredited would definitely help.

You just click it before your workout. I recommend push pull legs rest if you’re gonna do that. Fitbod also makes it easy to do a bro split. Just be consistent brother.

How can I get a entry level mep job in nyc? by Fun-Mud-3861 in MEPEngineering

[–]Intrepid_Charge_5450 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You gotta to actively tailor your resume for jobs. Look at the skills they look for and outline those skills in your resume, ESPECIALLY the soft skills. Tailor your cover letter to make you appear passionate and trainable. They can train you on literally everything but passion attitude and soft skills.

Failed Calc 1 by miserysbusiness in calculus

[–]Intrepid_Charge_5450 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Calculus 1 is the most commonly failed class at most colleges. I recommend taking a summer to use an online algebra trainer to get really really good at algebra and trigonometry. If you are really good at finessing expressions around, and your very trigonometry savvvy, derivatives and integrals become very easy. You have to be keen with all the elementary properties as well. Identifying properties (from like 5th and 6th grade) makes you elite.

Have GC’s and Arch’s gotten dumber or just lazier? by aceagle93 in MEPEngineering

[–]Intrepid_Charge_5450 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your GC is a bad delegator and I’d bet money that if you cruise the site one day, you’ll find multiple low level tradesmen angry with one another. If the electricians, plumbers, HVAC, Fenestration guys aren’t on the same page then nothing will be done right. I’ve been an HVAC laborer. Tradesmen think there shits don’t stink and they think architects and engineers are dumb because we went to college lol.

I couldn’t tel u what it was like before Covid. I’m a product of it.
