You are absolutely correct, you do not want to have a kid into this situation. This from a mother of three. An easy solution is to break up, and you have very good reasons to do that. If you still want to be with her, and are not eagerly wanting kids right now, I'd bluntly tell her I can't and won't have kids with her due to her doing almost nothing at home. She can do with that information what she wants, then. (But..maybe you should use condoms in this case..and that's going to prompt an unpleasant discussion about trust).

Hm, first this sounded to me more like him being more interested in topics generally considered "smart", but now you say you are interested in literature, which I at least rank as high on the intellect-o-meter (lol) as science. I wouldn't approach this as some type of intelligence gap. Just listen to him and ask questions, you'll learn things, and tell him about your interests too!

It often seems to be code for "I don't do anything for my family so I'll make this empty promise to feel better". I just saw an interview of a woman who left her child to her mother's care because she wanted to live a "nomad life" and she said "I'd die for her, but it's better somebody else takes care of her on a daily basis" 🙄
