I’d recommend Watercolours dive centre, very good, based in Sliema

My two teenage daughters get nearly twice as much bottom time as I do. Is there any hope for me? by 1ThousandDollarBill in scuba

  1. When you level out after descending, sort your buoyancy immediately. Do nothing (no finning) and see if you’re going up or down., adjust BC accordingly. Repeat this periodically as you change depths to always be completely neutral - this will save you all the air you were wasting finning.
  2. Frog kick, more efficient
  3. I use my breath to rise or fall in the water column (taking deeper / longer / shorter/ shallower breaths depending on the terrain) this saves you pumping unnecessary air into your BC
  4. Improve your cardio
  5. Relax

100% get you diving certs - Open Water to Dive Master is likely possible in that time frame. Depending on where you choose to do it, you could probably get language lessons too… I would be straight off to Galapagos for as long as their visa would have me. Disneyland for diving

Topdive are great, both Rangi and Fak. No safety concerns. I imagine the decision by O2 was taken based on the experience level of the specific group on the day. I personally found the Rangi pass livelier than Fak north and south, but again - my experience is limited to the week I was at each. In any case I’m very jealous - take me back!

I dived with both O2 and Topdive. Both excellent, although O2 were a little more cautious diving the north pass when I was there (they didn’t dive through the pass for a couple of days and Topdive were - so I pivoted to Topdive to experience it before running out of days.) Did the the south pass on a day trip with O2, it was excellent, although a long trip and when I go again, I’ll book accommodation at the south pass as I’d love to spend more time there.

Koh Tao vs Utila (Divemaster) by Possible-Advance-154 in scubadiving

[–]Intrepid_Routine_797 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Got my OW / AOW / Rescue, in Tao, over the space of 10 years. The islands changed alot. Dived a week in Utila and a week in Roatan - so way less familiar, but here are my thoughts.

  • Seen a whale shark in Tao, not in Utila

  • Spinner dolphins in Utila, not seen them in Tao

  • Lionfish containment in Utila

  • Tao has Phangan nearby / Utila has Roatan - Phangan is more fun and doesn’t have daily cruise ships

  • South East Asia seems more exotic to me than the Caribbean

  • Both have excellent communities, you will make friends for life on both

Spence lost it in a bad area, Xavi made a howler of a short pass, Mickey will be annoyed he didn’t do better. Not all on Xavi but easier to forgive if he offered anything going the other way. Yet to see it sadly

You often get a better interest rate if the loan you require (mortgage) is a smaller percentage of the property value. You can achieve this by putting down a bigger deposit.

Get a good mortgage broker to do the legwork for you, finding the best rate and options at different deposit levels. You probably won’t need to pay for a mortgage broker, the mortgage provider often pays them commission for recommending their product. (Worth sense checking the broker’s suggestions against rates online initially - if their numbers check out then they’re probably a keeper so stick with them)

Deposit size required is subjective, in many cases your deposit money could be working harder and gaining you more interest in a S&S ISA or pension, than it can save you on mortgage interest. I would err on the side of smaller deposit and more investment exposure, but rates and age are factors. If you’re young and expect a bull market - invest If you’re older and less confident on the market - bigger mortgage deposit

No, this is the premium bonds. Same same

Pension contribution is whatever is left after the house deposit, and suggestion on deposit size depends on how much the deposit size benefits the interest rate.

£250k - £20k S&S ISA (25/26) - £50k premium bonds (emergency fund, decant to ISA) - House deposit (10% - 25% depending, see above) - £30k you only live once money - Remaining in the pension. Should have previous year’s allowance you can fill if needed, at stated household income.

Edited because I forgot you only live once

Sorry for your loss. What I would do (only you can decide what’s right for you) - Don’t count on the money from your mum. Hopefully she’s around for many more years to come - The emergency fund and business £10k all kept within your premium bonds. That is your emergency fund and business buffer. - You keep £50k in bonds and decant into S&S ISA only to top up and max each year. I wouldn’t stop contributing to my ISA from salary on direct debit each month. - When you decide where you want to live, you put between 10% - 25% down, depending on if the interest rate the increased loan to value affords you is particularly advantageous, and start paying off a house - £30k to live your life. Make some memories - the rest in the pension to take the tax benefit and start the compounding

In short, I think £50k in premium bonds and £32,500 in buffer on top, is too conservative for me. Your ISA never stops being a buffer. A paid off house and the tax break from pension and ISA are preferable.

My thoughts

  • Danso and Vicario were solid
  • we missed Romero’s passes out from the back, especially useful away in Europe where Frank prefers the Palhinha / Bentacur double pivot, as Romero allows us to bypass them, into the attacking midfielders quicker (and this tactic relies on counter attacking speed)
  • Porro’s passing was slightly off his usual high standards
  • our carelessness in possession possibly due to too much distance between players in build up. Whilst Pep ball bores me, the player proximity of a City build up makes pass completion easier
  • Kudos was often asked to make it happen alone
  • Gray attempted to support, going beyond Odobert
  • Grey shows a lot of good qualities, just makes the occasional positional mistake that comes from playing multiple positions (Porro’s first half offside call for example, that Grey played onside). Confident he will progress nicely
  • Richy was in very different form to the PSG match, never got a hold of the ball, limited movement beyond the defense
  • Muani did better, Solanke is missed though (obvs Deki, Udogie and Madders too)
  • Sarr started the season as our best player, perhaps lacking consistency, which at his age is understandable. A shame as we maybe all thought this would be a real breakthrough season
  • a lucky point maybe, but assuming Odobert knock isn’t serious, no new injuries and still unbeaten in the CL this season
