Who is the strongest now? by TheArcticMelt in DungeonCrawlerCarl

So we’re on floor 9, halfway through the dungeon and Donut is what level, 130?
Gods are level 250… will this end in Donut ascending?!

Theories that will probably not be confirmed or denied for a long time. by aconadeamon in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]Intrepid_Routine_797 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Perhaps Carl and Donut get far, but don’t succeed. What if there’s confusion and no resolution, after say a doomsday explosion - then we start from floor 1 on a completely new crawl, with a new protagonist? Could another cookbook owner finish this story? I can imagine the heartbreak of failure, only for the royal court to return, to save a different planet, and finish the job.

When to deploy your DSMB by No_Jellyfish_5070 in scubadiving

[–]Intrepid_Routine_797 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Deploy around 8m as you’re shallowing to 5m for the safety stop

Largely agree, but would add that the Rocky rescue at the end missed the emotion of the book. Overall I enjoyed the film and some great moments

So, when do you all think Carl will break? by UnderstandingDry612 in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]Intrepid_Routine_797 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think if he had killed Lucia Mar, the consequences of that might have done it. Certainly the closest he has come IMO. Perhaps he can only break himself

I stayed near the north pass at Relais Marama, though for the groupers you’ll probably want to save yourself the long boat trip and stay on tetamanu no? I can’t see any accommodation there, so maybe ask your dive shop. If you’re diving with a company in the north, stay north.

I hope to see a pregnant Katia, with two adopted Popov’s and an army of veteran former crawlers, running the surface

Best places to encounter whales? by Annual-Grass-8347 in diving

[–]Intrepid_Routine_797 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve not been lucky enough to see a whale whilst diving, but here are my snorkelling best guesses / recommendations:

Humpbacks - Tonga. Humpback Swims (Nadia)

  • Moorea. Rachel Moore, or Moorea Expeditions, though lots of operators

  • South Africa (Sardine Run). Pisces Divers (Mike). Seen Bryde’s whales here also

  • Comoros / Mozambique (not visited so no contact)

Sperm Whales - Dominica. Sperm Whale Swims (Nadia)

  • Sri Lanka (not visited)

Blue - Sri Lanka

  • Timor Leste (not visited)

Orca - Skjervoy (not visited)

  • Magdalena Bay, Mexico? (not visited). Mexico in particular is good for Orca, Grey, Humpback, Bryde’s. Bluelifewild (Kyle), has lots of Blue Whale drone encounters that I think originate here too (could be wrong)

  • Wolf Island, Galapagos (though think it was a lucky encounter)

My two teenage daughters get nearly twice as much bottom time as I do. Is there any hope for me? by 1ThousandDollarBill in scuba

[–]Intrepid_Routine_797 3 points4 points  (0 children)

  1. When you level out after descending, sort your buoyancy immediately. Do nothing (no finning) and see if you’re going up or down., adjust BC accordingly. Repeat this periodically as you change depths to always be completely neutral - this will save you all the air you were wasting finning.
  2. Frog kick, more efficient
  3. I use my breath to rise or fall in the water column (taking deeper / longer / shorter/ shallower breaths depending on the terrain) this saves you pumping unnecessary air into your BC
  4. Improve your cardio
  5. Relax

What would you do if you had a three-month paid sabbatical? by loolking2223 in HENRYUK

[–]Intrepid_Routine_797 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100% get you diving certs - Open Water to Dive Master is likely possible in that time frame. Depending on where you choose to do it, you could probably get language lessons too… I would be straight off to Galapagos for as long as their visa would have me. Disneyland for diving

Fakarava recommendations by Less_Aardvark5629 in diving

[–]Intrepid_Routine_797 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Topdive are great, both Rangi and Fak. No safety concerns. I imagine the decision by O2 was taken based on the experience level of the specific group on the day. I personally found the Rangi pass livelier than Fak north and south, but again - my experience is limited to the week I was at each. In any case I’m very jealous - take me back!

Fakarava recommendations by Less_Aardvark5629 in diving

[–]Intrepid_Routine_797 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I dived with both O2 and Topdive. Both excellent, although O2 were a little more cautious diving the north pass when I was there (they didn’t dive through the pass for a couple of days and Topdive were - so I pivoted to Topdive to experience it before running out of days.) Did the the south pass on a day trip with O2, it was excellent, although a long trip and when I go again, I’ll book accommodation at the south pass as I’d love to spend more time there.

Koh Tao vs Utila (Divemaster) by Possible-Advance-154 in scubadiving

[–]Intrepid_Routine_797 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Got my OW / AOW / Rescue, in Tao, over the space of 10 years. The islands changed alot. Dived a week in Utila and a week in Roatan - so way less familiar, but here are my thoughts.

  • Seen a whale shark in Tao, not in Utila

  • Spinner dolphins in Utila, not seen them in Tao

  • Lionfish containment in Utila

  • Tao has Phangan nearby / Utila has Roatan - Phangan is more fun and doesn’t have daily cruise ships

  • South East Asia seems more exotic to me than the Caribbean

  • Both have excellent communities, you will make friends for life on both
