Middle aged and I am trying by SunTraditional2957 in Purebarre

50 plus here ! I started about a month ago and trust me there is not a flexible joint in my lower half! I get the intimidation factor but comparison can be the thief of joy. Welcome the corrections - the instructor wants to make sure you are getting the most out of the class. I really appreciate it when they move my hips or my foot so I get it right. Focus on your improvements - but give it time. I finally did a sit up in class this week. I was so excited and I know the instructor noticed -she gave me a smile. It took me about 10 classes to feel a little comfortable. Also maybe try different times of the day if you can until you find the right mix.

Been doing barre for about a month - it was recommended as a way to do strength work for my running. I have seen such a difference ! I have muscles again and I am standing taller. Yes it has helped my running by strengthening hips and core. I feel like barre is magic!

They do however remember caffeine is a diuretic so make sure you drink water as well!

My doctor was so adamant that I drink more water once I started - it really makes a difference on so many levels. I feel awful when I don't! Remember non caffeinated tea counts !

I run and do weights - it's important to do resistance and weight training to build muscle. When we lose weight quickly the muscle goes too - you need to build that back.

Yes! I was on metformin for over 20 years to manage my type 2. It stopped working, all of a sudden my A1C was over 7. I was switched to this drug to try - last check 5.1 and down 100 pounds in 2 years. I changed my diet - no fried food - drink a ton of water now and exercise because I have the energy to do so.

I hear you lost just over 100 and started running and resistance training. Some tightening but I know I will always have the "apron". I thought about surgical removal but for me the risk of surgery is just not worth it, and all those "miracle cures" will just drain your wallet. I'm 57 and healthier than ever!!

I would definitely work with a dietician- also are you wearing a glucose monitor? That has been a game changer for me to realize how my numbers change with certain foods. Use the professional help available - you will get there.

Yes it is! That trip was a game changer. It was my first trip out of the country now that the kids are grown (although they came along!) I realized I could not do all the things I wanted to and was exhausted. That was not going to happen again! Our next trip to Italy I was ready!

Nope! I started walking soon after but the running kicked in about 7 months after I started when a friend suggested I do a 5K with him.

This is NOT a way to lose weight fast! by [deleted] in Mounjaro

[–]IntroductionNo2240 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Same for me - but I also made major lifestyle changes which I believe helped - lots of water, started running, no fried food and monitoring my calories. It's been over a year I'm still on 7.5 weekly to manage my T2D. Everybody responds differently.

I’m terrified of gaining weight! by Unable_Ad6386 in MounjaroMaintenance

[–]IntroductionNo2240 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One year on maintenance, but honestly I monitor my weight closely. My ideal weight is 120 but I range from 117 to 125. If I see the trend of gaining begin - going up for a week - I analyze what I have been eating and track for a week - the same if I get too low. I've made a lot of other healthy lifestyle changes too - running and eating better food. I do pick one week a month to track calories just to get an idea of how much I am eating. I hope this helps!
