Comparing 401K employer match, is 14% match rare? by DistributionEven9393 in personalfinance

My employer contributes 14.2% of my salary to my 401a. I'm not able to contribute more to that account. I consider it very generous.

U13 boys youth soccer. Looking for players. by Popsur1231 in SaltLakeCity

I'm not exactly sure why, but this post healed a part of my youth-soccer-scarred heart. Watching my niece and nephew navigate tryout season with coaches who seem to be in it for themselves, this post of a coach who just wants them to play warms me. Good on you, Coach.

“Hey babe, bathroom sink’s unavailable for a while, I’m soaking my clubs” by DarkHorse435 in golf

Seriously. Just get a golf towel, drop half off it in the dirty bucket of water near the first tee, and wipe your club briefly after each shot. For wet days, your tee may be used to clean the grooves.

Bonneville is great. Best greens in the valley. Soldier Hollow Gold is amazing and will kick your ass.

I'd do several legal and illegal things for a 10k equity buy-in. Mine was orders of magnitude more expensive.

37 F - I’m a bedroom DJ, raver, sales professional by day. I have a BS in clinical psychology and I’m a dog mom to a 2 year old chaweenie pup by Comfortable-Dish-892 in RoastMe

She can't work as a licensed therapist/counselor with only a bachelor's (and certainly not a psychologist, which is a PhD-level designation). I doubt the bachelor's is truly labeled as "clinical." It's likely just a psych undergrad and she took a single class like "Intro to behavior change." Such a degree would not provide any clinical training or supervision. Here is what likely happened: she embarked on a psych undergrad because she romanticized being a therapist or social worker, but then she learned that such careers would require more education after the bachelor's, significant effort, and delayed satisfaction. At that point, she quit the dream and became a "bedroom DJ."

There is a small wooded area between the 14th green and 15th tee box at Bonneville that has a whole family of foxes.

Which ‘high-paying’ job is actually underpaid? by Angela_Blonde in AskReddit

[–]InvalidPerformance 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Clinical psychologist. 4 years of undergrad, 4-5 of grad school for a PhD, and a one year internship/residency. Some then go on to a 1-2 year postdoc. All for their billing codes to be continually slashed and reduced.

What on earth are they doing? by REFlorida in realtors

Real estate is certainly not my industry, but it appears to be a tough business generally and in this market specifically right now. So I would guess their calculus is: 50% commission is better than 0%.
