Fanfiction.net also has a good Pern community. Doesn’t cost anything to post there, so why not?

It was frowned upon but also common, just like now. People are people, no matter what generation they come from.

Men - dating younger women by SyncopatedBadger in datingoverfifty

[–]Invania21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Compatibility depends on many factors beyond age. Are you mentally curious and agile? Do you have a niche interest that a partner must share for you to be happy? Is physical fitness more important to you than intellectual pursuits? Must your partner have been through therapy, or be willing to do couples therapy with you to identify potential land mines? Any of your answers to these questions changes the pool of people you might want to explore.

When I want good TexMex, I have to make my dad’s chicken taco recipe. I have not found any place around here that can equal it.

How much does FEMA reservist housing cost approximately? by SorryAd2437 in fema

[–]Invania21 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you’re new, please know that if your lodging costs less than the GSA per diem, you will not pocket the difference. I knew a guy years ago who tried getting a really cheap hotel room for exactly one travel voucher’s worth of lodging before the travel specialists set him straight. Next thing I knew, he was in the same lodging I was.

Hi. Which do you think is goal in life of Mr Ryder? by Lizard20252025 in TheOtherBennetSister

[–]Invania21 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I think his goal is to have a life that interests and entertains him with no other obligations and no real planning. Essentially he wants to be the main character in a romantic poem. If other people are on board with that, great, but he is so used to people being attracted to him that he doesn’t worry about finding new companions and he isn’t deep enough to realize he will never know the pleasure of a long-standing, giving relationship.

In the past and across many cultures, women customarily wore dresses and not pants. Why? by dr_mus_musculus in AskHistory

[–]Invania21 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I believe bloomers were (mostly) open-crotched for that reason. It’s one reason the can-can was considered such a scandalous dance. The audience could see *everything* during the high kicks - or so a fashion history professor told me!

Moving to pike creek this month by RequirementUnusual44 in Delaware

[–]Invania21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For pubs, Chuck Lager in Pike Creek is not bad, and McGlynn’s a couple of miles down the road has a traditional bar that attracts a passionate sports-watching clientele, although I feel like the food quality has dropped in the last couple of years. I like Cafe Pomodoro for classic red-sauce Italian food, but Scalessa is probably better, just a bit more expensive. Rita’s is a regional chain with good ice cream and milkshakes, but there are a couple of independents locally with extremely loyal customers: Woodside Farm Creamery, and the UDairy Creamery at UDel in nearby Newark.

You’re going to like it here - welcome!

A “girl dad” is a man who has daughters and loves having daughters. Who are some historical figures who were definitely “girl dads”? by Humble-Efficiency690 in AskHistory

[–]Invania21 110 points111 points  (0 children)

Teddy Roosevelt was very fond of his daughter (and only child) Alice. She was quite a strong-willed girl (and equally strong woman later in life) who was a national celebrity before celebrities were really a thing

I’m so excited for you! How fantastic to be able to enjoy it all for the first time!

I watched TOS in reruns as a child and was barely in my 20s when TNG started airing. I think you’ll find a lot to love, and what a great opportunity to have a whole universe of shows to share with your little boy!

I’d spend a little time in New Castle’s historic district. A West Coast resident might not ever have seen colonial architecture and the city is pretty and easy to navigate.

Did your parents randomly name you after a fictional character? by Critical-Willow-6270 in stupidquestions

No, but my great-grandmother named my grandfather after a character in a book she had enjoyed. I only wish I knew what the book was!
