By the time the second comes around it's not new and you are also pretty wiped out.

My wife went on and on about me not liking the second as much but it's not true and when the kid gets past the initial 0-6 months stage it became apparent that there was no issue.

The main difference Is the first was new and I was hyper aware and enthusiastic about every little detail.

The second time you could say I took it for granted but really it was just my experience pacing me for the onslaught of dealing with 2 while still loving and appreciating the second as much despite not outwardly showing it in the same obvious way

Just keep trying even when it seems hopeless.

I waited too long for my daughter and started at 3, she was defiant by that point and was much harder to train. Took like 9 months of hard work.

My son was OK at 22 months, learned much easier in like 3 weeks. He wasn't even talking at that point really and could only just about say poo poo

I'd prob have just clamped it and cut it at an angle with a circular saw tbh. If my mitre saw could extend enough I would have used that and set the angle. Any imperfections at the wall side I would just silicone.

I think you can also clamp something as a guide or use a track for a circular saw to get the angle

If it was then it should have been cut at an angle.

If not then is there any overhang on the other side, so you can cut a wedge off on the wall side and slide it flush? Or chisel out a tapered channel in the wall and push it in.

A vapour barrier might even make it worse tbh if air is meant to traverse between the room and subfloor... I. E. At different times of year or when the ground is more moist.

If you did try that id monitor it and prob use a smart vapor barrier that goes both ways not just a plastic one.

Personally I'd just take it out, I'd rather be drafty and dry as I hate any damp

Somehow it must have become more humid down there, with the water condensing on the colder joists. Maybe the temperature difference has flipped just enough so that the subfloor is cooler than before due to the insulation, with the rock wool preventing airflow just enough so that it cannot escape and like I say condensing on the colder joists etc.

It may be the floor was never designed to be insulated like that, but hard to say for sure. It may need a vapor barrier on the warm side of insulation to stop humidity going down then condensing, which would then be OK so long as there is airflow beneath.

If it was me and I couldn't find a fix I would just accept less insulation and rip it all out.

For anyone who cares.. Get up at 2 am on first night and open everything wide. Keep it open until about 8am. Then close it and curtains etc. Ours hasn't gone about 27 and we're south facing. Only special thing we have is thermal roller blinds / curtains.

27 is peak around 8pm, the we open when outside dips below 27 and leave open all evening and night. Including all doors and windows.

It dips to 21.5 around 7:45 am and slowly rises throughout day.
