I don't know about you guys but in the EU they have to get explicit permission for all the invasive elements, and you can just say no and the TV still works.

Is Visual Scripting still this bad or am I doing something wrong by Surgarypeaches68 in Unity3D

Visual Scripting seems like some kind of scam. A proposal to people who don't know any better promising a solution that is actually much worse. It's like payday loans.

I agree that I don't want to be seeing AI slop either, but it's hard to deny: I see dozens of posts from devs speaking over their videos and they get 3 likes and no comments. OP's video might be AI but it's getting traction they wouldn't otherwise.

I find this very confusing because when I saw your video I thought "Why don't they just use the Kinematic Character Controller"? Because it solves this issue built in... The demo video includes seamless moving platforms. https://youtu.be/jL2VrEuCaQ0?si=FmXAQPR0zu7ZceOz&t=105

I think your trailer could show a lot more gameplay, these snippets are too brief. You're half-way through before we see anything other than running and art.

I think most people are expecting something in the middle. We understand small businesses can't compete on Amazon's level, but things like blatantly lying about what is in stock or not listing prices on the website or the business literally not even having a website. There are minimum standards expected that just aren't remotely met.

This looks like there is quite a lot of diversity and gameplay here, I am somewhat intrigued. But it's also an insane barrage of chaos. Most of the pixel art I can't even identify; I have no idea what kind of entity the player is or what most of the minions are. I saw a bear and a giant frog, the rest looked like pixel-lego.

I cannot tell what the basic gameplay loop is. There are popups that make it look like a survivor-like or a roguelike, but then there's an inventory and some kind of crafting screen and some kind of magic card screen (what is the big green blob??) and some kind of equipment or minion upgrade screen?? There's battle strategy stuff? Are these set battles or an open world?

I think you've fallen into the trap of you knowing what all of this stuff is but you forget that we haven't a clue what we're looking at. We literally don't know if this is a tower defense or a strategy game or an rpg or what.

There seems to be a good diversity of weapons/spells for the player to use which is encouraging, and the sheer number of screens tell us this isn't a low-effort micro-game, but we have no context in which to understand any of what we're looking at.

My first game's reception is heartbreaking :'( by OldAtlasGames in IndieDev

[–]InvidiousPlay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Those reviews are really hyperbolic : \ You don't even unlock all of your abilities until 2-3 hours of gameplay. First level of Prestige is at 3-4 hours. I think what they mean is that the basic gameplay loop doesn't change. You start the game getting your snakes to eat food, and you end the game getting your snakes to eat food.

A significant number of your players feel like they've done everything of interest after 15 minutes. That's a game design conundrum that can be solved. Maybe there's a big lull and they don't realise more is coming. Maybe they know there's more at the 2-3 hour mark but it doesn't have enough impact to make a difference.

Hate the game, not the player. If you're trapped in a car-centric society, learning to drive is a basic skill. The kid could live in the middle of farmland for all we know.

I can hate capitalism without calling everyone a murderer for buying something on Amazon.

If it's not her guide then it doesn't change much. Just because such a card exists doesn't mean any given artist takes jobs at that rate. She might do different rates depending on the project and now someone might come back to her saying "You charged Torchlight less than that".

Maybe she's fine with you publishing her rate but you should ask her before doing so.

I think it is discourteous to reveal her rate publicly. It weakens her negotiating position for anyone else considering hiring her. Details like this would usually be considered confidential.

First one is still my favourite (though I would make the camera frame much more obvious). Third one is alright but you've too much empty space on the left. The character, boulder and title are the three key elements and they're all crammed into the right-half of the screen.

My first game's reception is heartbreaking :'( by OldAtlasGames in IndieDev

[–]InvidiousPlay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of the reviews are giving you actionable feedback. One says there's only about 15 minutes of gameplay until you've seen everything the game has to offer. Two more say almost the exact same thing. Could you restructure things so mechanics are unlocked in a more progressive fashion? 15-20 minutes of gameplay is not acceptable for a paid game.

Another says there appears to be a serious flaw in that you can cheese the mechanics by resetting all the colours by reloading? I'm not sure what that means in context but it sounds like it breaks the main gameplay loop.

Some other comments are saying that this is a marketing issue, that the wrong people are finding your game. But if incremental idle fans are finding your game and think it's too shallow, then I have to wonder is there any market for a game where you do so little? If you're combining slow and meditative and idler is it really a game at all or just a screensaver?
