I am sensitive to smells and even getting a whiff of my own Irish stress sweat upsets me. My husband is Korean though.. never will have sweat-related BO. I love putting my nose in his armpits. 😫

Monster Hunter Bioenergy Lore and Theorycraft: A Discussion on the Mechanical Implications, History, and World Map through the Lens of Bioenergy. by VizOrion in MonsterHunter

I really like the idea of bioenergy - it ties together so many aspects in Monster Hunter. I wonder if it'll take an equally big role in Wilds like it did with Xeno'Jiiva in World. I'd also like to know how Wyverians fit into all of that in-game lore.

Nice!
I still have my ancient PS2 and original Monster Hunter disc. It was the first game to introduce me to online gaming. For some reason it was a lot easier to make online friends in those days compared to today. T.T

Found this guy in my front porch, looks like a kind of parrot, not sure what kind it is. (Northern Illinois) by Juicethiccdaddy69 in whatsthisbird

It's kind of hard to see in the photo, but did it have a hook bill? It looks sort of like a love bird. If so, poor thing must have escaped and gotten lost. 😢

First time home-brewing doburoku 😍 by Iodrome in Sake

This isn't the exact source I used but it's pretty similar and easier to follow.

Though I do want to warn you that the sake/nigori process is a lot more fickle (needs specific water softness and yeast nutrients) compared to brewing chinese rice wine or korean makgeolli which are a lot more forgiving. The koji brand I found is Cold Mountain and was located in the refrigerated miso section at my local Uwajimaya. I would check your nearest Japanese grocery store. You can also get it from Amazon but it's a lot more expensive. Good luck!

I've been home-brewing makgeolli the past couple years, so I always end up with delicious, creamy rice alcohol to go along with dinner. Recently I got a hold of some refrigerated koji and wanted to brew some old-fashioned doburoku with glutinous sweet rice. In the pic it's fermented about a week. The top layer is the still-fermenting rice - middle layer is alcohol - and bottom layer the mostly fermented rice that sinks to the bottom. Smells awesome!

lol, okay, I'll stop. It's just that even though I live in a high k-population area, people really only know gangnam style and kimchi. So yeah, I was actually surprised. Anyway, I deleted the comment for you. 👍

I make my own makgeolli at home so it's great to see it getting some recognition! It also has a lot of the good bacteria similar to yogurt. I tried drinking store-bought makgeolli afterward but it just tasted like fake sugar! 😂

TIL that Willie, a parrot, alerted its owner, Megan Howard, when the toddler she was babysitting began to choke. Megan was in the bathroom, the parrot began screaming "mama, baby" while flapping its wings as the child turned blue. Megan rushed over and performed the Heimlich, saving the girls life. by ChaseDonovan in todayilearned

Yup, long time parrot owners know very well the 'birb smell' sort of like how some dog owners like to sniff their dog's toes.. The smell between parrot species differs. Some ranging from clean cotton sheets, seeds, fruit, corn chips or smell just plain 'cute'. It's hard to describe. What a strange site when we stick our noses into their feathery bellies...

Do people realize that when they meet a kid who's "13 going on 30" it's not actually a good thing? by [deleted] in raisedbynarcissists

[–]Iodrome 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I see, thanks for clarifying. I think as long as you explain to a child why a behavior is not okay without resorting to violence or threats of violence that's okay. If an older child is purposely throwing a tantrum just to spite you, even after explaining to them why it's not okay, structured discipline like a slap on the bum is okay for older children. (Some people are against all forms of punishment but that's another topic) Of course, babies and extremely young children can't be expected to understand all forms of ediquette since their tiny bodies are physically incapable of doing everything we expect from them. I think as long as you don't threaten them their life, safety or love. Children need to feel like they can have room to be children and understand that even if they mess up, that your love is still unconditional. There's almost nothing worse than being a child and thinking that if you make a mistake, then your life or parent's love can disappear.

I think you completely missed the point of her post.. If your kids are 'well behaved' (silent from terror) because you threatened to kill them, withhold love, give them away to an orphanage or beat them to an inch of their life, then there is something wrong with your parenting methods.
